Super Mario 3D All-Stars Listed for Ridiculous Price on Facebook Marketplace

Summary

  • A copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars was spotted being resold for $500 on Facebook Marketplace.
  • The game collection had a limited-time release back in 2020, prompting price increases from some resellers.
  • Fans eagerly await the Switch 2 Direct, hoping for news about a new 3D Mario game.

A Nintendo fan recently shared a listing for a copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars that is being sold for $500 on Facebook Marketplace. While Super Mario 3D All-Stars features a collection of some of Mario’s best platforming adventures, many gamers agreed that this copy was ridiculously overpriced.

Despite being light on additional content, Super Mario 3D All-Stars provided fans with a way to purchase Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy bundled together for $60 on the Switch. The collection offered largely the same experiences as the original games but with upscaled resolutions. Unfortunately, Super Mario 3D All-Stars was a time-limited release, leaving fans only a little over six months to purchase a digital or physical copy. As a result, some people have attempted to resell the game over the years at exorbitant price hikes.

Gamers Think Super Mario 3D All-Stars Facebook Marketplace Listing is Way Overpriced

In the comment section, gamers discussed the going price for Super Mario 3D All-Stars on places like eBay. Numerous other users shared their own anecdotal stories, suggesting that the game could be purchased for much less than $500 despite the limited-time release. While some fans are still looking for their own copies of Super Mario 3D All-Stars from resellers, Nintendo has its sights set on the next console generation. On April 2, the company will host a Switch 2 Direct, providing a deeper dive into the upcoming console. In addition to more details about the hardware, fans are hoping to learn more about the lineup of new games, including a potential 3D Super Mario game.

While Nintendo released Super Mario Bros. Wonder in October 2023, the last mainline 3D game was Super Mario Odyssey. Considering that installment came out over seven years ago, many think the time could be right for another game in the series to be announced. Ultimately, fans will have to wait and see what Nintendo has planned for the Switch 2 Direct and the upcoming console generation.
