The less you remember, the greater the scares.
The new trailer for Silent Hill f confirmed that it doesn’t take place in the series’ namesake location and that it stars a character called Hinako as she goes up against otherworldly creatures. Those creatures certainly look the part and seem like they’ll be creeping us out for some time, but they weren’t created by who you’d expect.
Masahiro Ito Says He Has Nothing To Do With Silent Hill f
Whenever it comes to Silent Hill’s monsters, most people assume that, if they’re good, they’re the work of the beloved series art director, Masahiro Ito, who designed Pyramid Head and many of Silent Hill’s iconic creatures. Surprisingly, that isn’t the case for Silent Hill f, as confirmed by Ito himself.
Over on Twitter, Ito must have been receiving a lot of questions about the new Silent Hill f trailer and all the creeps in it because he set the record straight by confirming he hasn’t worked on the game and doesn’t know “anything” about it. While it’s normal for series to have different art directors for each game, it does come as a bit of a surprise considering how important Ito is to the series.
It’s also doubly strange when you consider that Ito actually did work on a recent and new Silent Hill game outside of the Silent Hill 2 remake. That game is The Short Message, which Ito designed the main creature for, showing he’s still got a good working relationship with Konami. It’s not clear why he’s not involved in Silent Hill f, but at least the monsters are still looking plenty creepy even without Ito’s hand.
