Oda has secretly revealed the true nature of Dragon’s Devil Fruit in the One Piece series.
So far, Elbaf has given fans a bunch of incredibly exciting new Devil Fruit abilities, and given its connection with mythology, it is highly likely that this arc will deliver some of the most overpowered ones. Now, Oda has teased a new legendary dragon Devil Fruit on Elbaf, after giving fans a very dangerous one in Wano, with that one belonging to the former Yonko of the Sea, Kaido. This one might be even more impressive, and fans are eager to see what Oda does with it.
The Dragon Devil Fruits Of One Piece So Far
- Kaido’s Dragon Devil Fruit Was Majestic
- Other Dragon Fruits Exist In One Piece
When it comes to Zoan types of Devil Fruits, fans know that legendary creatures are always incredibly fascinating. Ever since the concept of the Mythical Zoan types was introduced, fans knew that Oda would eventually introduce a dragon in the story, and that’s exactly what he did with the character of Kaido. In the Wano Country Arc, it was revealed to the fans that Kaido was, in fact, a user of a Dragon Devil Fruit.

To be clear, Kaido’s fruit was the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryuu. This Devil Fruit belongs to the Mythical Zoan class and allows Kaido the ability to transform into a giant azure dragon. This dragon is extremely powerful, with its biggest and most important feature being its durability. Kaido’s skin was believed to be indestructible when it comes to regular attacks, or even attacks imbued with regular Armament Haki. Such was the power offered by Kaido’s Devil Fruit. But that most certainly isn’t all. Kaido’s Dragon transformation also gave him the ability to produce fire, which was strong enough to destroy whole mountains in a single strike. He could conjure lightning as well, although not as impressively as Big Mom, and produce wind slices dangerous enough to cut even Luffy. This elemental manipulation power came directly from the Dragon Devil Fruit, making it incredibly special in One Piece. But, it most certainly wasn’t the only one in the story so far.
Fans know for a fact that One Piece also has some very powerful dinosaurs. In the world, dinosaurs also seem to be referred to as dragons, meaning that they all fall under the category of the Ryu Ryu no Mi. For instance, King’s Pteranodon is a model of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, as is the power of Queen, the Brachiosaurus. Similarly, most of the Tobiroppo have their own Ryu Ryu no Mi fruits, with the only exception being Black Maria, who had the Kumo Kumo no Mi, Model: Rosamygale Grauvogeli.
Then, there is Momonosuke, who has a clone of Kaido’s fruit, with the only difference being that it is pink instead of blue. Undoubtedly, the One Piece world has some fascinating dragons, but there are still some that are missing and it is only a matter of time before Oda starts to incorporate them in the story.
Oda Teases The Legendary Dragon Nidhoggr In Elbaf
The Legendary Western Dragon Could Finally Appear
If there’s one thing that fans know about dragons, it is that there are many types. So far, fans have only seen an eastern dragon devil fruit in One Piece, while the vast majority of other dragon Devil Fruits are actually dinosaurs. But, western dragons also exist and there must be a Devil Fruit ability that allows one to transform into a western dragon.
To be clear, Western Dragons absolutely do exist in the One Piece world, and this is clear from the fact that Vegapunk has successfully cloned them on Punk Hazard. To be more specific, fans could see two of Vegapunk’s dragons in Elbaf, and both of them were incredibly powerful. The first one to make an appearance was Dragon Number 13, which was eventually killed by Zoro, completing a parallel to Ryuma from Monsters.

There was also Dragon Number 21, which was rather small, but more agile. This dragon was also created by Vegapunk on Punk Hazard. At least what’s clear is that these Dragons do exist in One Piece, meaning a Devil Fruit ability of these dragons most certainly exists as well, and that it is a matter of time before it is introduced. Curiously enough, Oda has already revealed a legendary dragon in Elbaf, and this one absolutely has to be made into a Devil Fruit later down the line in the arc.

One Piece: Oda Just Hinted At The True Identity Of The Earth God
The Earth God is a mysterious figure in One Piece. Oda might have just hinted at his true identity.
In One Piece chapter 1142, Saint Sommers used his special powers to bring the fears of the children to life. One of them gave birth to the legendary dragon, Nidhoggr, which fans know to be extremely special in Norse mythology. This dragon gnaws at the roots of the World Tree Yggdrasil, and it spits extremely hot fire. In some variations, Nidhoggr is even called the lightning dragon. This creature exists in the mythology of the One Piece world, which is a confirmation of the fact that it exists as a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit in the world, somewhere.
Who Should Have The Nidhoggr Devil Fruit?
Loki Seems To Be The Prime Candidate
Of course, when it comes to someone having the power of the Nidhoggr Devil Fruit, Loki comes to mind. For one, fans know that Loki was chained to the roots of the Adam Tree, just like Nidhoggr is supposed to gnaw at it. Secondly, this would give Loki the power to spew fire, making him the literal personification of Elbaf’s weakness, that is, fire and lightning. More than that, however, this mythical Zoan is truly majestic and overpowered, and someone like Loki most definitely deserves it.
Of course, nothing is confirmed in regards to Loki’s powers yet, but if he were to have this fruit, fans would truly love it. It is only a matter of time before Loki’s Devil Fruit is revealed in the story as One Piece draws close to his full release from chains. All eyes should be on the next few chapters, where Loki will go on to unleash his Devil Fruit ability.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1143, is set to be March 23, 2025.
