New Helldivers 2 Teaser Includes a Secret Message

Helldivers 2 recently released a new in-universe video calling for the evacuation of Moradesh, one of the game’s planets, though players think there’s more to this new clip than meets the eye. Upon closer examination, fans discovered several clues that seem to indicate Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Studios placed a secret hidden message in this new video which may point toward the arrival of new enemies or even a new planet.

Intended to be Sony’s entry into the live-service arena, a genre that has become increasingly crowded within the video game industry as of late, Helldivers 2 stands out to fans thanks to its setting, gameplay, and overall tone. This is one of Helldivers 2‘s many planets, though fans are pretty sure there’s more to this video than meets the eye, with some clues now being deciphered. Some fans spotted what appears to be a spectrogram containing Morse code, which has since been translated into the phrase “Last Straw.” This is believed to possibly be a message from Helldivers 2‘s Illuminate faction.

It’s also possible the video shows the homeworld of the Illuminate themselves, possibly hinting that players may be able to travel there. The Illuminate is one of the more recent additions to the game, debuting alongside Helldivers 2‘s big Omens of Tyranny update, which dropped at the end of last year. While the exact meaning of the message remains unclear, fans seem to agree that it has something to do with the Illuminate.

In any case, players can likely expect a new Helldivers 2 update to drop soon, with the game receiving an abundance of new features and items in recent months. Alongside the Illuminate, players can work to progress through Helldivers 2‘s current Servants of Freedom Warbond. Warbonds work similarly to battle passes in other games, offering players rewards in exchange for points they earn throughout each season. Helldivers 2‘s notoriety continues to increase as well, with the game spawning its very own board game which will officially release in April.
