Monster Hunter Wilds takes you to the Forbidden Island, a place considered uninhabited by humans. But as the guild arrives there, it finds not only humans but a variety of monsters as well. As you progress, you’ll encounter many side quests to do alongside the main story.

The Forest Doshaguma is a side quest given to you by Erik. Unlike most other quests, this one is unique as it requires you to capture a monster instead of hunting them down. While capturing the Doshaguma is one thing, finding one can be a challenge, too, if you’re not lucky.
How To Start The Forest Doshaguma Side Quest
The Forest Doshaguma side quest can be started after talking to Erik in the Scarlet Forest base camp. As you head into the High Ranks, you’ll be taking on post-game story quests, and as part of that, Erik will decide to permanently move to the Scarlet Forest, where you can find him to take on this quest.
The Forest Doshaguma quest requires you to find and capture a Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forest region. The quest doesn’t show up with a marker or as an optional quest in Alma’s quest counter, so you’ll have to manually look for a Doshaguma and capture it.
You can find one right away, and if not, you can head to the environment menu to check when a Doshaguma is likely to spawn in the region through the Environment Forecast section of the map.
How To Complete The Forest Doshaguma Side Quest
The Forest Doshaguma quest is all about weakening the monster and capturing it. Make sure you bring enough Tranq Bombs and a Shock Trap with you. Once you’ve found the Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forest, keep whithering down its HP unless your Palico says that the monster is weakened.
If you don’t have Tranq Bombs or a Shock Trap with you, you can craft them both or buy them from the Provisional Stockpile shop.
That’s your cue to whip out the shock trap and lure the monster to it. Once Doshaguma is stuck in the Shock Trap, you have to throw two Tranq Bombs one after the other to capture it. After capturing it, you’ll be tasked to report back to Erik.
Rewards For Completing The Forest Doshaguma Side Quest
You’ll find Erik in the Scarlet Forest base camp. However, he might not be there, depending on your post-game story progress. If that is the case, then you’ll have to progress the post-game story until Erik is back in the Scarlet Forest base camp to complete this quest.
Once you return to Erik to report the quest, he will reward you with 20 Tranq Bombs and ten Large Dung Pods.
