Some bounties in Monster Hunter Wilds can be a bit more vague then others when letting you know what monster you need to hunt down. If you take the time to stop and look at a lot of the monsters throughout each region of the game, you’ll start to realize there are groups, and some bounties force players to figure that out.
One bounty specifically will have you hunting a Fanged Beast, though if you don’t know where to look you won’t know what monsters hit that criteria. Here’s every Fanged Beast and also how to understand what type of beast a monster is.

Every Fanged Beast In Monster Hunter Wilds
In total there are four large monsters that classify as Fanged Beasts and two small monsters that do too. You can see if a monster is a fanged beast by checking their description in the Field Guide. The classification of a Fanged Beast doesn’t change much in terms of gameplay other than them all having semi-similar builds, and overall it’s just a visual categorization that adds lore but also qualifications for bounties.
Much like Apex Predators of each region, the entry for every Fanged Beast will clearly have the words in the first sentence, along with a title seen in smaller font above the monster’s name when viewing it in the guide. Looking for any of these monsters in particular just to complete a bounty can be difficult if you plan on just going to the region and running around. High Rank also introduces a lot of new monsters for every region, so finding specific ones you want randomly is never ideal. Instead, talk to Alma who may be able to send you on an optional quest to hunt down the monster you want.
Starting an optional quest will spawn you in the specific region with your target monster already there. You can also filter SOS flares to join in with a player who is in the middle of fighting the specific monster you are trying to find. Otherwise, you’ll need to utilize your tent often to change the time of day and spawn new monsters, along with altering the weather.
