Blizzard Entertainment’s decision to add Belial to Diablo 4 in its upcoming eight season could be a sign of things to come for the hit RPG.
As per usual, Blizzard opted to share the official changelog detailing the upcoming patch ahead of its release. In terms of technical changes, the new update will introduce support for Intel’s Xe Low Latency (XeLL) technology, which is designed to minimize input lag and increase game responsiveness when used with Intel’s Xe architecture, which serves as the basis for the company’s ARC GPUs. On that note, the new Diablo 4 update will also make the game compatible with Intel’s Xe Super Sampling upscaling technology. PC players with supported hardware will be able to find both XeLL and XeSS settings in the graphics menu of the game’s March 18 build.
Diablo 4 Update 2.1.4 Will Have Resolution Scaling Enabled by Default
The 2.1.4 update will also tweak some graphics settings, in that resolution scaling will now be enabled by default. Blizzard cited a desire to improve Diablo 4‘s baseline performance as the main motivation for this change. The default resolution scaling settings will be determined based on one’s hardware configuration. Players will still be able to tweak these settings manually.
The changelog attached to the 2.1.4 patch also mentions half a dozen bug fixes. Most of them target Diablo 4‘s Season of Witchcraft, with the update addressing one progression blocker for the Scour event and an issue where the same event sometimes causes Herb node minimap icons to disappear. The upcoming update also eliminates a bug that allows Cocoons to destroy Druid Boulder projectiles, as well as an issue that messes with the sound produced by Treasure Goblins in Headhunt zones, making them difficult to hear.
In terms of other changes, the 2.1.4 update promises to fix an exploit allowing Inquisitors to teleport to towns and an issue where disabling the Mature Language Filter sometimes prevents players from renaming their loadouts. Multiple visual, stability, and performance improvements are also part of the upcoming package. Blizzard’s track record indicates that the March 18 update will be released following a brief server maintenance period, which could be up to several hours long.
