Like all the Sons of Calydon in Zenless Zone Zero, Burnice has a unique personality centered around fire and burning anything in sight. She’s also the premiere Anomaly sub-DPS, capable of massive off-field Fire Anomaly buildup. Building her is straightforward, and she has plenty of free-to-play, friendly team-building options.

Here’s how to build Tsukishiro Yanagi in Zenless Zone Zero!
If you’re building an Anomaly team — any Anomaly team — Burnice will always be a good choice, even if she isn’t the best choice. She even works well in Attack DPS setups, and we’ll go over why in this guide.
Best Burnice Builds
Burnice’s kit is about building Heat via her EX Special to build Heat until she enters the Nitro-Fueled Cocktail state, at a minimum of 50 Heat and a maximum of 100. While in Nitro-Fueled Cocktail, Burnice applies Scorch to enemies with almost all of her attack types. Specifically:
- Held Basic Attack: Mixed Flame Blend
- Her EX Special, Intense Heat Stirring Method particularly when held
- Chain Attacks
- Her Ultimate, Glorious Inferno
Any allies that hit Scorched enemies trigger Afterburn, which spends eight Heat per activation. Afterburn can deal up to 350 percent of Burnice’s attack in Fire damage every 1.5 seconds, and increases in damage output up to 30 percent based on her Anomaly Proficiency.
She also instantly gains 100 Heat as soon as she comes on-field the first time in combat, so a sample Burnice rotation looks something like this.
- Enter combat with your Support to buff the party.
- Swap to Burnice to gain 100 Heat and use her held Basic Attack to apply Scorch to your target.
- Swap to your main DPS and deal damage as normal, keeping an eye on Burnice’s Heat gauge to see when it needs to be reapplied.
- Swap back to Burnice and use her EX Special until you reach maximum Heat again.
- Use Burnice’s Ultimate as it’s available to save on EX Special Energy.
- Repeat.
As for stat distribution, you’ll want to focus on four, in this order:
- Attack Percent: At or around 2,500 minimum
- Anomaly Proficiency: At or around 320 minimum
- Energy Regen: At or around 1.5 minium
- Anomaly Mastery: At or around 130 minimum
Best Burnice W-Engines
The best W-Engines for Burnice are those that increase the effectiveness of her Anomaly Buildup. Like almost all characters in Zenless Zone Zero, Burnice’s best-in-slot option is her signature W-Engine, Flamemaker Shaker. Burnice’s signature not only grants a blanket Attack percent attack buff but also does wonders for her Energy Regen, buffing her overall damage output by up to 35 percent while on-field and double while off-field. It even increases her Anomaly Proficiency.
No other W-Engine offers as much value for Burnice, but there are more accessible options. The best free alternative is the craftable Weeping Gemini, thanks to its generous Anomaly Proficiency buff. More premium options include the season pass exclusive Electro-Lip Gloss for its flat Damage and Attack percent bonuses. Grace’s signature Fusion Complier is a solid choice, too, thanks to its PEN Ratio and Anomaly Proficiency buffs.

Best Drive Disks For Burnice
Burnice’s best-in-class Drive Disk pairing is four-piece Chaos Jazz and two-piece Freedom Blues. Not only do you get +60 Anomaly Proficiency from the two-piece bonus, but also a substantial Fire Damage percent bonus from Chaos Jazz. Chaos Jazz’s four-piece bonus also improves Burnice’s EX Special and Assist off-field damage.

The sub-stats you want to focus on are Attack percent, Anomaly Proficiency, and Energy Regen. Attack percent determines how much damage she deals, as you’d expect. Anomaly Proficiency helps with the damage your Anomaly activations deal, and with better Energy Regeneration, Burnice can use her EX Special more often.

Burnice Skill Overview And Priority
Reaching the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail state and applying Scorch are the heart and soul of Burnice’s kit. As such, her EX Special is the most important Skill to improve when building Burnice. Everything else is secondary.
With that in mind, you’ll want to follow this order to upgrade Burnice’s Skills EX Special > Assist >= Ultimate > Chain Attack > Basic Attack. You’ll also want to max out her core passives from ranks A through F, provided you can access endgame farming materials.
Best Burnice Teams
Burnice is best played in a team specializing in Anomaly buildup and setting of Disorder effects, additional damage explosions that occur when two Anomalies interact. Note that after a Disorder goes off, it clears both types of Anomaly buildup used to create it. That fact makes her premium team even better.

Burnice and Yanagi are a fantastic pairing for a few reasons. First and foremost, both are masters of Anomaly application, meaning even without too much investment, you can inflict lots of Anomaly and Disorder damage.
The kicker is Yanagi’s EX Special, which has a mechanic that can activate a second Disorder separate from the default that doesn’t expend the Anomaly buildup. That ability allows each of Yanagi’s EX Special attacks to deal two instances of Disorder damage simultaneously. And with Burnice constantly applying Scorch stacks, that’s incredibly easy.
Astra Yao provides massive Attack bonuses and enables easy quick swapping when you need to get Burnice on-field for more EX Special usage. That Astra can also heal damage you’ve taken with her Ultimate is a bonus.

While Soldier 11 is not a wordbeater DPS like Yanagi, Miyabi, or her Fire Attack alternative Evelyn, but she’s still perfectly functional damage dealer in the absence of anyone else.
Add in Burnice‘s supplemental Fire damage and Anomaly buildup and this team is instantly elevated beyond simply “usable” into “worthwhile.”
Bringing Caesar helps with Soldier 11’s more average damage output and also helps keep her alive via Caesar’s powerful shields. Those shields also apply interrupt resistance, keeping Soldier 11 active in the fight even if she takes a few stray attacks.

Don’t count out Piper, even with the likes of Tsukishiro Yanagi and Hoshimi Miyabi at the height of the Anomaly archetype. She requires a lot of on-field time to work, but is one of the best Agents around for building Scorch stacks thanks to her own EX Special’s huge number of potential hits.
Lucy adds a fair amount of Fire damage and Anomaly buildup, plus solid Attack bonuses when she allows a free quick swap to Piper.
