The most valuable Dragonite cards feature some Pokemon TCG GOATs.

With such a strong debut in Paradox Rift, Roaring Moon jumped out of the gate to a solid starting value, with its Special Illustration Rare eclipsing figures that most Pokemon can only dream of commanding. While there are more cards to come for this Pokemon, the future of this Future Paradox Pokemon looks bright.

Cards are ordered according to their TCGPlayer Market Price, which you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.

Updated March 13, 2025, by Andrew Scariati: The most valuable Roaring Moon Pokemon card now sits alone at the top with an impressive value. While the best Roaring Moon chase cards continue to evolve, it will take a special card to usurp the current best Roaring Moon card from its place at the top.

The Start Of A Roaring Future

The Roaring Moon S&V Promo from the Pokemon TCG.

Roaring Moon received a promo card to kickstart its Pokemon TCG career, getting off to a stronger start than most Pokemon. After such a strong debut, the sky is the limit for Roaring Moon, but it will need to weather the post-debut storm that sees it struggling to return to its release highs.

While it may take a miracle to reach the heights of the most valuable Sylveon cards and Pokemon of that caliber, Roaring Moon couldn’t ask for a better set of cards to start with.

Since this card and the other most expensive Roaring Moon cards are so new, they’re fairly easy to find in NM condition, and it’s usually worth investing in the best possible condition if you’re concerned with your card’s long-term value. While this card dropped below $1.50, it roared up the charts to north of the four-dollar mark, before falling back to its current price.

Roaring Moon Ex: Paradox Rift (Double Rare) – $1.99

Clawing Its Way Up

The Roaring Moon Ex Double Rare from Paradox Rift in the Pokemon TCG.

Roaring Moon is poised to take another swipe at the competition, with this slightly different artwork boasting a razor-thin edge over the nearly identical promo version. While Roaring Moon switches the claw it uses on this card, the price and depiction are appropriately similar.

To keep the trend of eerie similarities going, this Roaring Moon also once hovered below the two-dollar mark, flirting with obscurity before a massive surge sent its price soaring to the $4.55 mark. However, this card’s momentum couldn’t hold and its price has fallen significantly from previous highs.

Roaring Moon Ex: Paradox Rift (Ultra Rare) – $5.09

The Precursor To Another Level

The Roaring Moon Ex Ultra Rare from Paradox Rift in the Pokemon TCG.

Paradox Rift continues its sweep of the board, with the Ultra Rare’s art boasting one of the most vibrant versions of Roaring Moon thus far. While the brownish background is busy, it can’t fully draw your attention away from the brilliant blue and deep red colors on Roaring Moon.

Popular Trainers and dynamic Pokemon duos highlight the most expensive cards in Cosmic Eclipse.

The best Roaring Moon cards feature it as the clear subject, which this card accomplishes, despite the minor distractions.

This card had a massive debut at $30 but never looked ready to support such a strong valuation, as it slid to $15 almost immediately after and continues to slip downward. Unfortunately, this Roaring Moon card keeps falling further from its strong debut.

4

Roaring Moon Ex: Paradox Rift (Hyper Rare) – $6.38

An Overwhelming Golden Design

The Roaring Moon Hyper Rare from the Pokemon TCG.

If you think you’re seeing double, don’t worry, this card features the same art of Roaring Moon as the Ultra Rare version but boasts a golden recolor to denote its superior Hyper Rare status. While the aesthetic of this art choice is up for debate, this card’s rarity makes it slightly more expensive than the prior iteration.

Roaring Moon shares a similar trend among its best cards, as it jumped to a hot start when it debuted but cooled off a bit as new sets began dropping. However, as more time passes, this card continues to jump up and down, waiting to settle at a solid price.

3

Roaring Moon: Prismatic Evolutions (Master Ball Pattern) – $21.42

Mastering The Look

The Roaring Moon Prismatic Evolutions Master Ball Pattern in the Pokemon TCG.

Master Ball patterns rose to prominence thanks to their inclusion in the Japanese version of Scarlet & Violet: 151 and they’re back in Prismatic Evolutions. While that set is primarily focused on Eeveelutions, even Roaring Moon earns some love in a Master Ball Reverse Holo Pattern, with a market price hovering around the $20 mark.

While this valuation is nothing compared to the sky-high prices you’ll find associated with Pokemon like Umbreon, Roaring Moon’s respectable price is enough to claim one of the top spots. However, the best Roaring Moon card in this set makes an impressive statement coming up.

2

Roaring Moon Ex: Paradox Rift (Special Illustration Rare) – $60.24

A Triumphant Victory Pose

The Roaring Moon Special Illustration Rare from Paradox Rift in the Pokemon TCG.

Upon its debut, Roaring Moon claimed a spot high in the clouds among the most valuable cards in the Scarlet & Violet era, but its value sunk to the $55 mark after a strong start at about $70.

Despite the dip, this card is undoubtedly the most spectacular depiction of Roaring Moon and includes Scream Tail in the background and foreground of the art.

While it may take some time before this card climbs back up in value, it’s likely to exceed the $70 mark once the generation goes out of print, especially if it remains one of the best depictions of Roaring Moon in the Pokemon TCG. Given how unique this art is, it’s likely to find a bright future as one of the top Roaring Moon chase cards.

1

Roaring Moon: Prismatic Evolutions (Special Illustration Rare) – $252.05

Shinji Kanda Strikes Again

The Roaring Moon Special Illustration Rare from Prismatic Evolutions in the Pokemon TCG.

While beloved Eeveelutions dominate the most valuable cards in Prismatic Evolutions, Shinji Kanda’s fantastic iteration of Roaring Moon stands out as one of the other best cards in the set. This vibrant and beautiful depiction of Roaring Moon takes the Paradox Pokemon’s signature style and sets it on a stunning background scene.

While this card’s debut at around $170 was already astounding, its value has only continued to swell thanks to the immense amount of hype surrounding Prismatic Evolutions. Expect this gorgeous card to remain one of the most valuable cards in Prismatic and the undisputed best Roaring Moon card thus far.
