In the spirit of Chapter 6 Season 2 of Fortnite’s Lawless theme, there’s a new game mode in which teams can embark upon a quick and daring heist called The Getaway. This job won’t be easy, as enemies will be pelting players with bullets or smacking them with Kneecapper bats while they try to crack open a safe and retrieve the valuables inside.

A Week 3 Quest for Fortnite tasks players with finding and searching Golden Llamas. But where exactly can players find them?
To survive this game mode, this guide will explain how players can earn themselves a Getaway Victory Royale in Fortnite. So it’s time to get cracking and float away on top of a flying van to bring further victories and eliminations.
How to Win in Fortnite’s Getaway Mode
To start a Getaway match, select the game mode from the various choices in the lobby. This mode can only be played in duos or squads, so solo players and trios are out of luck. It can also be played in Zero Build, and there’s even a ranked option.
When the game begins, it’ll look like a regular Battle Royale match. Players will drop from the battle bus onto the map and run around looting weapons and gear upon landing. When players are eliminated, they can be rebooted from a Reboot Van just like a normal match, and when the whole team is wiped, that’ll be the end of the game.
Where things differ is how Getaway matches are won. In the top right corner, underneath the minimap, will be four safe icons. These represent the four safes that will drop from the sky as the game progresses. The locations where the safes will land will be marked on the map, and players should make their way toward the closest spot as soon as they appear. When they touch down, interact with the safe to open it. If every member of the team interacts with the safe, it’ll open much faster.
Once cracked, the safe will bust open with loot and the most important prize: a llama-shaped jewel. A member of the team needs to pick this jewel up, and it needs to be held onto for the remainder of the match. Whenever a safe is opened, the safe icon under the minimap will change to a llama jewel icon. This will glow blue when a player’s own team has one, and red when an enemy team gets a hold of a jewel.
There’s an incentive to hold onto the jewel as whoever possesses it will recover health and shields while it’s in their inventory.
The final step to winning a Getaway game is to make it to a Getaway Van with the jewel in a team member’s inventory. These vans will also be marked on the map, but they won’t arrive until a timer appears on the right of the screen and hits zero. There will be two vans at first, followed by a final Getaway Van sometime later.
When a team reaches the location of a van, the player holding the jewel will have to interact with it. If enemy teams use all the Getaway Vans, then the match is deemed a loss. As long as players can activate the Getaway Van with the jewel, they’ll be able to extract from the match, and that will lead to a Getaway victory.
