This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Arc.
Summary
- Gojo Satoru’s Hollow Purple combines Red and Blue to create a destructive imaginary mass.
- Lapse and Reversal lead to the creation of Hollow Techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen.
- Gojo is the only sorcerer with a Hollow Technique, but others could potentially unlock their own.
Jujutsu Kaisen has quite a lot of powerful characters, but among all the characters that Gege Akutami introduced in the story, two stand out at the very top, and they’re Gojo Satoru and Ryomen Sukuna. Fans know Gojo to be the strongest modern sorcerer, and his strength is at the absolute top of the modern era. The only one strong enough to match him in combat is Sukuna himself and that’s clear in the story from the very first glimpse that the author gives of him fighting. Over the years, Gojo developed his arsenal in tremendous ways.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo’s 0.2 Second Domain Expansion, Explained
Gojo’s 0.2-second domain expansion is definitely interesting in JJK’s Shibuya Arc.
Being a member of the Gojo Clan, he had a chance to inherit the special Limitless technique as well as the Six Eyes, and he went on to gain both of these powers upon birth, making him the first sorcerer in 400 years to have access to this combination. Of course, without training all the gifts that Gojo had would’ve gone to waste, so he trained harder than anyone else, mastering both the Limitless and the Six Eyes, and coming up with incredibly powerful techniques. Gojo mastered the Limitless to the fullest, and even unlocked the secret Hollow Purple technique. That said, could other Hollow Techniques exist in Jujutsu Kaisen? Is Hollow Technique simply exclusive to Gojo? That’s exactly what’s being discussed here.
Gojo’s Hollow Purple And Its Power
- A Combination Of Two Infinities
- An Imaginary Mass That Destroys Just About Everything In Its Path
To understand the concept of Hollow Techniques, one needs to look at the Hollow Purple technique that Gojo fires, and to understand Hollow Purple, the Limitless technique must be looked at in the first place. The Limitless is one of the most overpowered abilities to ever exist, and it brings the concept of infinity into reality, which basically offers spatial manipulation powers. The technique has many branches and different functions which are easier to understand when going through them one at a time. The Limitless technique has three parts:
The first part is the Neutral Limitless, of Infinity, which allows Gojo to stop just about anything that is aimed at him as if there’s an invisible barrier in between. This is his inviolability. No matter what is thrown at him, it will never touch him.
The second part of the technique is known as Blue, which is the power to attract. In simple words, this is a strengthened version of the Neutral Limitless, and when powered up, it turns into the power to attract.
The third part is Red, which is the exact opposite of Blue, and is repulsive in nature. By flowing positive energy in Blue, its effects are reversed and Red is born.
Throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one — Gojo Satoru
When it comes to cursed techniques, two things must be kept in mind, and these are the concepts of Lapse and Reversal. In the case of Gojo’s technique, Neutral Limitless and Blue are both the Lapse of the Cursed Technique. Then, there is the Reversal of Cursed Techniques, and this is the exact opposite by making use of positive energy.
This brings one to the concept of the Hollow Technique: Purple. By colliding Red and Blue together, Gojo is able to create something called Purple. This can only be made possible by mixing the Lapse and Reversal together. Purple is essentially an imaginary mass that Gojo shoots and it practically just deletes most things from its path. It’s highly destructive and quite easily one of the strongest techniques in the entirety of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Can Other Hollow Techniques Truly Exist?
The Basics Of Cursed Techniques Support The Existence Of Hollow Techniques
Now that it is clear what Hollow Technique: Purple truly is, one would naturally wonder if there are other similar techniques. Most fans are hellbent on the fact that Hollow Technique is something that’s specific to Gojo since he has the Limitless, but that’s actually never been confirmed in the story at all.
If anything, Gojo being the only one with a Hollow Technique goes to show how skilled of a fighter he truly is. There is most certainly a basis for other Hollow Techniques to exist in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, and this is, once again, quite clear to see just by looking at how Cursed Techniques work.
I’m gonna reset this crappy Jujutsu world! — Gojo Satoru
Simply put, one needs to look at the concept of Lapse and Reversal again. First things first, the idea of Lapse is very clear in JJK. Lapse is achieved when Cursed Energy is used to activate a technique. In simple words, as explained in the manga, the technique itself is an electrical appliance, while cursed energy is the electricity needed to make it function. When cursed energy is channeled in the forward direction of the circuit, Lapse can be achieved.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Sukuna’s World Splitting Dismantle, Explained
Sukuna’s World Splitting Dismantle is a very overpowered ability. He showcases its power in JJK.
Every technique in Jujutsu Kaisen has a Reversal. This shouldn’t be confused with Reverse Cursed Technique. Cursed Technique Reversal is completely different. The latter is positive energy poured into the technique in the reverse direction of the circuit, which achieves a completely different version of the technique. For instance, Blue is the Lapse of Limitless, while Red is the Reversal, and Red is not Reverse Cursed Technique and doesn’t heal. Similarly, Kenjaku had Gravity, and its Cursed Technique Reversal was Anti-Gravity.
Based on what Gojo accomplished with his technique, the Lapse of a technique and the Reversal of a technique can essentially be combined. If Lapse and Reversal fuse together, a Hollow Technique is born, and in theory, every sorcerer can do this since all techniques that exist in Jujutsu Kaisen have a Lapse and a Reversal.
Gojo’s Genius Shines Once Again
Gojo Is The Only Sorcerer With A Hollow Technique
At the end of the day, the fact is that Gojo is the only one in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen with a Hollow Technique, despite there being a possibility for the likes of many, such as Sukuna, to unlock their own Hollow Techniques. This just goes to show how skilled Gojo is, as a sorcerer, and how the Six Eyes boost his understanding of cursed energy, allowing him to pull off even the most complex things with rather ease.
Hopefully, in the future, fans will see Gojo Satoru once again if Gege ever decides to do a one-shot of the story or perhaps give fans a new prequel of sorts. For now, fans simply have to be content with what Gojo Satoru has shown so far, and be content with all the amazing displays across his various fights through Jujutsu Kaisen. Truly, there will never be a sorcerer like Gojo Satoru again.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
