Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 received its fourth PC patch just last week, and Insomniac and Nixxes have now deployed a fifth update for the open-world superhero title. One of the most notable changes in Spider-Man 2‘s Patch 5 on PC is the upgrade to DirectStorage 1.2.3, which is expected to reduce traversal-related stuttering. The game’s use of GPU decompression for DirectStorage previously created challenges for players sporting GPUs equipped with less than 8GB of VRAM, but the latest Spider-Man 2 PC update looks to have alleviated this issue. Additionally, the patch optimizes performance when playing as Venom, fighting Symbiote enemies, and any related in-game cinematics.
The new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC update makes improvements to Nvidia DLSS Ray Reconstruction as well, which helps in reducing noise in shadows on facial details and refining ray-traced ambient occlusion and reflections. Beyond performance improvements, the latest patch addresses several quality-of-life issues for Spider-Man 2 on PC, such as UI elements failing to load properly during Prowler side quests when frame generation and upscaling are active. Likewise, Spider-Man 2‘s Hunter Blinds minigame now displays controls correctly on PC, and mouse and keyboard input issues in Photo Mode have been fixed too.
Thankfully, these updates have significantly improved the state of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC, and lots of players have concurred with the same. The performance optimizations in Update 5 have particularly piqued the interest of many PC users, and preliminary testing has yielded positive results so far. Hopefully, Insomniac and Nixxes will continue to gauge and implement player feedback for Spider-Man 2‘s PC port.
