WWE 2K25 is packed with unique decisions for players to make in MyRISE that will impact every step of that story, and it doesn’t take long for this to begin. Right as career mode gets rolling, each character will need to be given an origin story.
Your first character has the option of being from Raw, SmackDown, a rival promotion, or MMA. As the story gets rolling, your second MyRISE character also gets the option of being from the indies. Before making your picks, you may wonder exactly what each choice will mean for that MyRISE save. As such, here’s an overview of what happens when players pick Rival Promotion, MMA, Raw, or SmackDown in WWE 2K25.

At launch, there are 180 unlockable superstars in WWE 2K25, making it one of the most content-rich wrestling games of all time.
When a new MyRISE save kicks off in WWE 2K25, two key decisions need to be made during the opening cutscene featuring Triple H. The first will ask you whether you want to compete in the Women’s Division or the Men’s Division, and the MyRISE unlockables linked to that choice will depend on which personality type you choose.
Immediately after choosing a division, you’ll have to select a background or origin story said that division’s superstar. MyRISE gives you the following four options:
- “One of the top stars on Raw”
- “One of the biggest names from SmackDown”
- “The top star of another promotion”
- “A decorated MMA Champion”
The good news is that your choice here will not influence the MyRISE unlockables you receive throughout that save. Instead, this decision branch provides unique dialogue and interactions during your MyRISE story.
While they understandably avoid naming it, the “promotion” being referenced here is very clearly AEW. With it, interactions with former AEW wrestlers Jade Cargill and CM Punk throughout your MyRISE journey will see you treat them like your former coworkers. Raw and SmackDown provide a more establishment vibe, and MMA will feel like the character comes from the UFC.
A similar version of this decision will appear a bit further into MyRISE when your second character (belonging to the division you didn’t choose at the start) joins the story. In a conversation with Adam Pearce, you will choose one of these origins for that character:
- “…the indies”
- “…a rival promotion”
- “…MMA”
Immediately after this choice, you’ll also be faced with a follow-up question about their background, giving you the chance to decide how your two superstars are connected:
- “We used to train together”
- “We used to date”
- “We grew up together”
Just like the origin pick for your first character, both of these decision branches only impact your dialogue and interactions. Picking “rival promotion” will lead to the same former AEW wrestler experience as with your first character, and it pairs well if you choose that for both characters.
Choosing the indies will create a connection to TBD that fits well with the narrative of another possible decision much later in MyRISE, and the link between your two characters will impact some of your dialogue choices later on.
It’s a good idea to change up these choices in subsequent playthroughs in order to keep the experience from getting stale, but it ultimately has no impact on which MyRISE unlockables you’ll get in WWE 2K25.
