One of the biggest new features this season is gold, not just as a currency, but a whole new mechanic. If you want to make use of it, you’ll need to mine gold veins in Fortnite. Something that’s been available since the launch of the season but not everyone has really engaged with yet!
Compared to similar mechanics in previous Fortnite seasons, the gold isn’t quite as obvious this season. It gives a status effect. But unlike Nitro or Chrome, its benefits aren’t as immediately obvious. So, a lot of players haven’t been jumping into the gold quite as often. If you want to start engaging with gold properly, you’ll need to mine gold veins in Fortnite.
The mechanics gives some big benefits, like movement boosts and can help you harvest materials a lot quicker. With mining them being a part of the current Fortnite weekly quests, players will have to start tracking them down soon. This is how you can do it and where you’ll find the gold veins in bigger supply.

The new Gold Veins in Fortnite were one of the big new features added at launch of the season! They’re a deposit of gold. Meaning under the ground at gold veins, there’s quite a lot of gold.
Once you mine it, you’ll gain gold and the gold effect. That increases your movement speed along with your harvesting speed. It’s a useful thing to have applied, especially as it stacks with other boosts this season like the Unstoppable Medallion. They’re pretty widespread in some regions of the map.
How to Mine Gold Veins in Fortnite
Once you’ve found some Gold Veins, how exactly can you mine them? While Fortnite is using unique language for this part of the game’s interaction, they actually work the same as harvesting materials anywhere on the map.
All you need to do is pull out your pickaxe and harvest the gold vein. Once destroyed in a few hits, you’ll get the gold effect applied. That’s all you need to do to mine gold veins in Fortnite.

Where Are They?
If you need to mine gold veins in Fortnite, you can find them randomly throughout the map. However, they’re concentrated a lot more heavily in particular regions of the map. The new biome for Chapter 6 Season 2 is where you’ll find them most often. Specially, near the gold river. If you’re dropping around here to collect Mythic weapons this season, you’ll be able to find them in these spots more often.
