How to Get Max Potions in MH Wilds

How to Get Max Potions in MH Wilds

Even the best hunters get hit sometimes, and if you’re fighting the meanest of beasts in Monster Hunter Wilds, you can expect to get hit hard. Lucky, Max Potions are here to help players get back on their feet in the blink of an eye.

Max Potions have been around for a long time, and they’re much better in terms of healing compared to ordinary healing potions in MH Wilds. If you want to get a good stockpile of these potions going, here’s how you can do so.

How to Craft Max Potions in MH Wilds

MH Wilds Max Potion Crafting List

Max Potions are given to players as rewards during the Low Rank portion of the main quest line, though they can also be crafted by combining Mandragoras with Catalysts. To do so, open the Crafting List from the in-game menu (or from your tent’s Item Box), then select Max Potion from the list.

At first, Max Potions will be listed as an unknown recipe in the Crafting List. To unlock it, you’ll first need to get a Mandragora and a Catalyst.

  • Mandragoras can be found in all regions except Oilwell Basin and Wounded Hollow.
  • Catalysts are crafted by combining Bitterbug Broth with Honey.

Once you get both ingredients, search for the recipe in the Crafting List that uses both of them, then craft it. The result should be a Max Potion.

Getting Mandragoras

The best way to get Mandragoras is to use the Material Retrieval function in MH Wilds, which becomes available after players complete villager side quests once they reach High Rank. Apar and Plumpeach will gather Mandragoras for you while you do other things.

Alternatively, you can get a decent amount of Mandragoras in the Scarlet Forest. Use map filters to pinpoint their exact locations.

Getting Bitterbug Broth and Honey

You can get tons of these items via the Material Retrieval mechanic as well. Have Plumpeach and Apar search for Mandragoras, then have everyone else look for Bitterbug Broth and Honey. If the retrieval NPC doesn’t have Bitterbug Broth in their list of items, we recommend going for Sleep Herbs or Parashrooms for Tranq Bomb crafting.

Bitterbugs spawn in all regions except Iceshard Cliffs, and if you want to manually gather them, your best bet is the Windward Plains. These tiny critters spawn in every area of the plains, so you should be able to get a ton of them just by sweeping the entire region (while referring to your map, of course).
