Best known for her role as Scarlet Witch, she explored both mediums under the Marvel machine, starring in the MCU’s most-Emmy nominated show (itself about television) in WandaVision, as well as playing the character in several movies, most recently Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

But if she does, it will need to be slotted in around Seven Sisters, her upcoming FX drama as reported by Deadline.
Elizabeth Olsen Reunites With Her First Director
Seven Sisters marks Olsen’s return to television after the 2023 miniseries Love & Death, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe. She also starred in and produced Sorry for Your Loss in 2018-19, while she has been on the small screen in her Marvel role post-WandaVision through What If…? and Marvel Zombies, both times playing a non-canon version of Wanda.
Throughout her career, Olsen has bounced from smaller, more independent movies like Ingrid Goes West, Wind River, and His Three Daughters to bigger blockbusters like Godzilla or, obviously, the MCU.
Her first role, however, was as the titular character in Martha Marcy May Marlene, whose many names dig into the roots of the psychological tension at the heart of the film. This return to television reunites Olsen with its director Sean Dirkin for the first time in 14 years, with Dirkin set to direct the pilot. Dirkin most recently won plaudits for his direction of the wrestling biopic The Iron Claw, which was a heavy topic of discussion recently as Zac Efron’s leading role is considered by many to be one of the biggest Oscar snubs in the past few years.

Dirkin will also serve as executive producer, alongside Will Arbery (best known for his writing on Succession) who wrote the pilot, and Garrett Basch’s who also produced Devs, Reservation Dogs, What We Do in the Shadows, the upcoming Ethan Hawke-led noir drama directed by Reservation Dogs showrunner Sterlin Harjo. Should the pilot be picked up, it would tie Olsen down for a while, but she hasn’t ruled out a return to the MCU.
Speaking to Collider while promoting her upcoming movie The Assessment, Olsen admitted she would be eager to return to the character with the right opportunity. “To be able to return to a character and continue to move them forward has been so much fun for me… I do feel very lucky that I’ve been able to play a character for over 10 years of my life, and I’d love to keep doing more.”
However, Olsen has never been one to put her artistic ambitions aside to leave her schedule free for mammoth Marvel shoots, so if she does go back to Wanda, the MCU may need to wait for Seven Sisters to play out.
