The end of the first Black Mirror episode “The National Anthem” shows the aftermath of a political scandal.

When the Black Mirror season 7 trailer opens, viewers hear some chilling and haunting words while a version of the classic song “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” plays. As is often the case with Black Mirror trailers, viewers don’t know the details of each upcoming episode. But the trailer teases enough that fans will want to binge watch the episodes as soon as they arrive. The trailer says:

“We’d like to welcome you back… They call it mind-expanding. It alters your neural structure. The mind is a computer. Suddenly, you’re not just more receptive. You become a receiver.”

The characters of Black Mirror season 7 are definitely put to the test as they each are affected by technology in dark and mysterious ways. The trailer shows Rashida Jones sharing a pitch for cereal that isn’t ordinary at all. Fans get a glimpse of Issa Rae’s episode, which seems to be in black and white, as she moves into a universe where people are AI. Previous Black Mirror seasons tackled helicopter parenting, dating apps, political satire, simulated realities, AI toys, celebrity, and reality TV. Although “Hang The DJ” and “San Junipero” have happy endings, every other Black Mirror episode has an upsetting conclusion that sticks with viewers. But even though viewers know that this is a grim show without any easy answers or peaceful endings, the caliber of the writing, directing, acting, and storytelling keeps fans coming back.

As Variety reported, Black Mirror has never released a sequel episode before. While fans would be happy enough to watch Black Mirror season 7 thanks to the talented cast members, the sequels make the arrival of season 7 even more thrilling since fans want to continue these creepy stories and see what happens next. The new episodes include Chris O’Dowd, Paul Giamatti, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Awkwafina. Other Black Mirror season 7 cast members include Michael Workéyè, Josh Finan, Michelle Austin, Will Poulter, James Nelson-Joyce, Asim Chaudhry, and Ben Bailey Smith. Previous seasons featured Jon Hamm, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jesse Plemons, Wyatt Russell, Letitia Wright, Rosemarie Dewitt, Daniel Kaluuya, Rory Kinnear, Topher Grace, and Jodie Whittaker, among many other stars.

In May 2024, showrunner and creator Charlie Brooker gave an interview to The Hollywood Reporter and was asked if he could talk about the seventh season. He said:

“I’d love to. But I’m pretty sure I can’t or shouldn’t. There’s so much I could say. I think I can say that we just wrapped on “Callister,” and we’ve just started on another one… I’m always excited about all of them, but I think we have a really good mix… And we are doing something really cool right now that we’ve never done before — but I can’t say what it is.”

All six episodes of Black Mirror season 7 will arrive on Netflix on April 10th, 2025, and it will be cool to see these new creepy stories about technology, including the “Bandersnatch” and “USS Callister” sequels.
