Avowed has some crazy achievements that demand a ton of effort on your part to unlock. Take the “Pants on Fire” achievement for one. While lying your way to victory certainly sounds fun, unlocking this achievement requires a bit of finesse and planning. You are not going to be able to lie in every conversation, and the achievement can only be unlocked within the same playthrough. You are probably thinking of another playthrough, perhaps as a two-handed melee fighter. So, your aim of 100-percent completing Avowed just became more cumbersome. Luckily, there are a couple of clever methods that can help you unlock this achievement without breaking a sweat and within the same playthrough. Here is how.

Best Way to Unlock the “Pants on Fire” Achievement in Avowed

Avowed - Sanza

The “Pants on Fire” achievement requires you to lie a total of 15 times in Avowed. You can do this by simply choosing the “LIE” dialogue option when it pops up during conversations. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Not quite. While it may seem simple at first glance, several caveats make this achievement trickier to unlock than you might expect.

Firstly, the option to lie is not that common in conversations, meaning you can easily miss an opportunity while speeding or fast-forwarding through dialogue.

Secondly, and most importantly, you have to lie 15 times within the same playthrough. Your lies do not carry across multiple playthroughs. Hence, reloading the same save file over and over again will not work. The achievement only tracks the lies made with a single, continuous save.

That said, there are a couple of side quests in Avowed that let you cheese the “Pants on Fire” achievement with ease. You can use any one of the two side quests below to pop the achievement within seconds.

Precious Light

Avowed - Precious Light Lie

Hailed as one of the best side quests in Dawnshore, Precious Light is a great opportunity to unlock the “Pants on Fire” achievement early in Avowed. Head to the Market District in Southern Paradis to find Sapiento de Falva, an alchemist who needs you to bring him some luminous adra. Keep following the questline while making sure not to side with the Vailian Trading Company.

In the end, when you finally return to Sapiento, he will ask if you have by chance found some luminous adra, lie that you have not. He will end the conversation by asking you to return quickly when you do. Simply speak to him again and lie once more. Rinse and repeat until the achievement is unlocked.

Don’t Look Down

Avowed - Don't Look Down

Shatterscarp, the third region, gives you another opportunity to lie your way into achieving a 100 percent completion of Avowed. Fast-travel to Shark’s Mouth Beacon, or just head to the southern end of Shark’s Teeth to come across Moapo. He will be looking for someone to deliver some supplies.

Speak with Moapo to start Don’t Look Down, and return once the quest is complete. Speak with Moapo again, and choose the lying dialogues. This will cause the conversation to end abruptly, meaning you can keep stacking up lies by repeatedly selecting the lie option until the achievement pops. Once unlocked, you can officially brag to your friends about earning the “Pants on Fire” achievement in Avowed.

There are likely more quests out there in Avowed that allow you to exploit looping dialogues. Let us know if you find another way to unlock the “lying” achievement.
