Hog Cycle
Average Elixir Cost: 2.6
- Hog Rider
- Skeletons
- Musketeer
- Cannon
- Ice Golem
- Ice Spirit
- Fireball
- The Log
What is better than playing an original deck in an event that brings back the original gameplay? Hog Cycle is one of the most popular decks in Clash Royale that somehow still manages to hold up and remain effective in the mid-ladder games, though it has lost some of its charm.
This is a deck about chaining deployments and showing quick reactions to the enemy’s movements. Hog Rider is the main damage dealer, and he must be supported at any cost. While the modern version of this deck uses Firecracker for aerial clearance, the original version benefits from Musketeer’s presence, who costs one extra Elixir but also deals stronger damage to tanky units.
Skeletons and Ice Golem are there for distraction, and Cannon is the only item to buy the player sometime before they can deploy other units to defend their crown tower.
6
Balloon And Freeze Deck
Average Elixir Cost: 3.6
- Balloon
- Freeze
- Rage
- Electro Wizard
- Valkyrie
- Tesla Tower
- Skeleton Army
- Dart Goblin
An aggressive deck for non-patient players! Those who want to wrap up the game quickly will find this deck quite useful, but it is not flawless. The combination of Balloon and Freeze, along with Rage in the Double Elixir phase, can deal devastating damage to a crown tower, but also uses a significant amount of Elixir.
While Valkyrie, Tesla Tower, and Electro Wizard can provide good support on the player’s side of the battlefield to neutralize any counterattack, this deck still lacks a tanky unit or a heavy damage dealer to shift the tides. So, take it at your own risk!

Giant And Miner Deck
Average Elixir Cost: 3.3
- Giant
- Cannon
- Valkyrie
- Guardians
- Electro Wizard
- Miner
- Bomber
- The Log
Giant has been the most simplistic yet reliable tanky unit since Clash Royale launched. Although his usage rate has dropped a little, in the Retro Royale mode, players will see him in action more often. Combining his deployment with a distraction as good as Miner can be quite fruitful.
The deck also benefits from the presence of Bomber, a low-cost support unit that is not only able to keep Giant safe from spam units on the ground but also deals a decent amount of tower damage.
That being said, this deck is a little bit vulnerable to aerial attacks, as it all comes down to Electro Wizard to clear the air.
4
Skeleton Giant And Elixir Collector Deck
Average Elixir Cost: 3.9
- Flying Machine
- Elixir Collector
- Skeleton Giant
- Arrows
- Cannon
- Knight
- Dart Goblin
- Guardians
This is a deck that shines in the Double Elixir phase. Players must be patient when using this deck in the first minute of the match and try to play defensively while investing their Elixir into the Elixir Collectors. Once the Double Elixir phase begins, the investment pays off with back-to-back pushes of Skeleton Giant and Flying Machine.
Guardians and Knight are best saved for defensive scenarios, while Dart Goblin can be used in both attack and defense, especially when the enemy is out-Elixired. Support Skeleton Giant until it reaches the crown tower is the key to success when using this deck.

3
Goblin Barrel And Musketeer Deck
Average Elixir Cost: 3.5
- Valkyrie
- Skeleton Army
- Musketeer
- Baby Dragon
- Goblin Barrel
- The Log
- Tesla Tower
- Mini Pekka
Unlike other decks that come with at least one tanky, high-Elixir unit, this deck is built around mid-cost cards, and it does operate pretty well. However, players do need good timing and a good deployment strategy to win with this deck, as there are no tank units to force the opponent to waste a lot of Elixir.
The best strategy is to use Goblin Barrel as the main damage dealer to the tower, but if it gets denied by spells, then use the barrel to bait or confuse the enemies and instead create combos like Valkyrie and Baby Dragon or Mini Pekka and Musketeer to push ahead. Thankfully, this deck has neat responses to both ground and air threats.
2
Bowler And Executioner Deck
Average Elixir Cost: 3.5
- Bandit
- Poison
- Clone
- Bowler
- Executioner
- Minions
- Guardians
- The Log
While not popular nowadays, Bowler used to be one of the best tanky units back in the day, and in this retro event, the card is quite valuable again! Bowler is quite vulnerable to any aerial units, which means he needs to be supported with another card that can do him a favor and destroy the threats above his head. That’s the Executioner’s job!
While Guardians and Minions are amazing for defensive scenarios, the player can also duplicate them using the Clone card. Bandit also serves as a sneaky and quick damage dealer that can target the tower quickly when the opponent is out-Elixired.
1
Pekka And Mega Knight
Average Elixir Cost: 3.6
- Pekka
- Mega Knight
- Arrows
- The Log
- Knight
- Zap
- Bomber
- Miner
Pekka and Mega Knight have long been two of the most-used high-Elixir cards in Clash Royale, and having them both in a single deck could win the player a lot of matches if they just know how and when to use them.
The worst thing someone can do with this deck is to deploy both Pekka and Mega Knight before the Double Elixir phase. This will just make the player get out-Elixired pretty quickly, especially if the opponent has some good aerial units or spams.
Instead, try to use the combos of Pekka/Mega Knight with Bomber/Miner to avoid spending so many Elixir points earlier in the game. This is also recommended to learn the cards and playstyle of the opponent.
In the meantime, use spells for spam-clear and save Knight for any defensive scenario. Keep in mind that Arrows and Zap are the only cards for targeting aerial units in this deck. So, use them wisely!
