On March 12, World of Warcraft offered more details about the upcoming player housing feature, namely how players can place and customize different pieces of furniture throughout their virtual homes. World of Warcraft shared an in-progress look at how tables, beds, and other items can be placed, and confirmed that some items can be resized or dyed specific colors.
During the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct broadcast in November 2024, Blizzard surprised fans by revealing that player housing would be available in World of Warcraft‘s upcoming Midnight expansion. Midnight is the second chapter of the ongoing Worldsoul Saga and will pick up the story after The War Within concludes later this year. Although a release date for World of Warcraft: Midnight and player housing remains unknown, Blizzard’s annual roadmap revealed that World of Warcraft player housing could arrive in winter 2025, around or before Midnight‘s release. More details about Midnight and player housing are expected in the coming months.

Following a February post that gave players a first look at player housing, World of Warcraft shared some in-progress footage of how the long-awaited feature is coming along. According to a Blizzard blog post, World of Warcraft will allow players to place tables, mugs, food, and other household items inside their virtual homes. Blizzard confirmed that both Basic and Advanced modes will be available for Azeroth’s prospective homeowners, but stated that the user interface for player housing is subject to change. In basic mode, tables and items can be placed upright and have collision detection enabled.
World of Warcraft Shares Housing Furnishing Progress

Advanced mode removes these restrictions, allowing players to clip their furniture through walls, place furnishings along a 3D axis, float them in the air, and resize them to varying degrees. Wallpapers, ceilings, and walls can also be customized into various styles, such as the Blood Elf or Night Elf styles.
Recently, World of Warcraft‘s Undermine(d) update gave players a small taste of what to expect from player housing. Players can claim ownership of an Undermine apartment after completing a side quest in the goblins’ underground city. Though furnishings or items can be placed in the Undermine apartment, players can set it as their Hearthstone’s recall point.
Blizzard confirmed more details about exteriors and home sizes would be revealed later. Though World of Warcraft has a lot of work ahead with player housing, it remains to be seen how the feature will turn out once Midnight arrives.
