Great Hibiscus is a special material needed to craft each piece of the Melahoa Alpha Set in Monster Hunter Wilds, a high-rank armor set with some incredibly powerful skills.
Obtaining a Great Hibiscus is not an easy task, however, as it cannot be found in the overworld as an item like Herbs or Mining Outcrops. Here are all the ways players can get Great Hibiscus in the game.

How to Get Great Hibiscus in Monster Hunter Wilds
Great Hibiscusis a crafting material that can only be acquired in one of two ways in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Material Retrieval from Rysher
- Item Trader
Material Retrieval from Rysher
After reaching Chapter 5-1 and completing the side quest ‘Astonishing Adaptability’ to hunt a Xu Wu in the Ruins of Wyveria, players will unlock the Material Retrieval feature for the NPC named Rysher. Once triggered, Rysher will start collecting items for you. Great Hibiscus is a by-product of this Material Retrieval which can sometimes appear as a bonus when collecting from Rysher.
Great Hibiscus is not a guaranteed drop from Rysher’s Material Retrieval and cannot be selected from the list of farmable materials on the selection screen.
Item Trader
There are only two Item Traders who occasionally stock Great Hibiscus in MH Wilds: Gawdygog and Ren.
Both Gawdygog and Ren will only be unlocked as Item Traders after you have talk to them in their respective locations. You can immediately tell who is an Item Trader you have not talked to by the golden quest icon on top of their heads. This only appears when you are physically in the same location as they are, however. After reaching High Rank (Chapter 4-1), you will be able to access all Item Trader (and Material Retrievals) inventories through Nata in base camp, eliminating the need to ever visit them again.
Item Traders can only have three item trades active at one time, which only reset after a certain amount of time has passed. The fastest way to reset an Item Trader’s stock instantly is by Resting. However, doing so costs 300 Guild Points.
