Where Is Murtabak In Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter WildsHigh Rank content introduces a lot of elements to the game that are easily missed unless you’re doing a lot of the side content and talking to many of the NPCs. One mechanic that is easily missed is Material Retrievers, which are NPCs that will randomly gather materials you want to help you save time.

Murtabak is one of the first Materials Retrievers you’ll be able to interact with as long as you complete his prerequisite quest first. Here’s how to unlock Murtabak and also how to use him as a Material Retriever.

Where Is Murtabak In Monster Hunter Wilds?

Before trying to find Murtabak, you’ll want to make sure it is daytime and the weather is good. In your tent, you can change the time and weather as needed, but you’ll want to make sure it’s during the day and the weather is, “Plenty”. If you don’t want to spend the Guild Points, you can wait out the weather and the time, though waiting out the weather is random and it may switch to another weather type that Murtabak doesn’t spawn during.

During bad weather, most NPCs are in their houses and can’t be reached.

During the daytime, Murtabak can be found wandering around Kunada, Windsong Village, found just south of Base Camp in the Windward Plains. Unlike some NPCs, Murtabak is always moving around, so he’s not easy to track down. While he can realistically be found anywhere in the village, he tends to walk around the northern sections more often than the southern sections.

  • If Murtabak is unlocked as a Material Retriever, the corresponding icon will appear over his head and on the map.
  • Even if you haven’t unlocked Murtabak, a green dot will be over his head helping you identify him.

How To Unlock Murtabak As An Item Retriever In Monster Hunter Wilds

Until he is unlocked as a Material Retriever, Murtabak is just another NPC to chat with and has no real use. You’ll first need to complete the quest, “Beware The Gypceros”. After finishing this quest completely, Murtabak will get the Material Retriever icon over his head and you can check in with him whenever you see him. Talk to Murtabak to pick which items you want him to focus on finding, and you can talk to him every in-game day to hopefully get some from him depending on the rarity of the item. Unlocking Murtabak as a Material Retriever also makes him much easier to find thanks to the icon on the map.
