Like all Persona games, Persona 3 Reload is an RPG with a unique style and presentation. The game revolves around a high school student who can summon a Persona, a physical manifestation of a person’s spirit. He joins forces with other Persona users as they attempt to discover the mystery behind the Dark Hour phenomenon.

Along the way, you participate in stylish turn-based battles. At least, that is what you do at night. During the day, you attend school, hang out with people, and generally live life, as this terrific RPG has a social simulation element.

Because it’s based on a TV show, you may not expect South Park: The Fractured But Whole to be a quality RPG. Yet, it’s a welcome addition to the genre. It features interesting character classes and well-tuned turn-based combat. Plus, it shares the same writers as the TV series it’s based on, meaning it contains classic South Park humor and is often hilarious.

The premise alone is pretty funny, as it’s all about the kids of South Park playing superheroes. However, because this is South Park, where everything gets wild and over-the-top very quickly, the narrative soon goes off the rails. It never becomes a series story, but it’s an engaging one.

Skyrim is one of the most famous RPGs in recent memory. This is because it’s among the best first-person RPGs ever. The game is simply stacked with content. There are so many places to go, quests to do, and people to talk to. In addition, there are many choices to make that severely impact how your adventure turns out.

The combat has some variety to it, too. The way you build up your character can affect what sort of fighter you become. You can make use of bows, swords, or a bit of magic to get the job done in battle

The first of those decisions occur right at the start when you choose to play as either Kassandra or Alexios. Whoever you choose serves as a mercenary during the Peloponnesian War. Their main conflict doesn’t revolve around the battles between Athens and Sparta, though. They’re more concerned about a group known as the Cult Of Kosmos, who ripped their family apart at a young age. You fight back against them using a mix of melee combat and stealth.

Fable 2 is set in the fantasy world of Albion. You start the game as a young kid who is living on the street. Yet, despite their struggle, they’re destined to become a hero and stop a mad ruler who is on the verge of destroying everything.

While the plot is serious, the overall tone of the game is light-hearted. There is plenty of comedy and silliness throughout. A lot of this occurs in the amazing side quests that you can take on. Outside of them, you can do all sorts of other things while exploring the world, including getting married and having kids.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon differs from the previous entries in the Yakuza series in many ways. The main difference is that it’s a turn-based RPG. Yet, it isn’t the most traditional turn-based RPG because it contains Yakuza’s trademark wackiness. This means plenty of silly powers and attacks.

The party that you fight with is made up of people from different walks of life. They’re helping out the protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, fight back against his former boss. It’s a colorful and thrilling adventure.

Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout began as a pure RPG series, but the more recent games have been action RPGs, including Fallout: New Vegas. This title boasts excellent FPS combat and fascinating exploration. In fact, those two things combine quite often, as you regularly get into fights while roaming the post-apocalyptic wastelands. The individuals you fight range from radiative wild creatures to members of big factions.

Those factions play a part in the main story, as your protagonist finds themselves in the middle of the conflict between all the groups vying to control the wasteland. And it all begins when a sharp-dressed man with the voice of Matthew Perry shoots you and leaves you for dead.

Technically, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is three games as opposed to one. This is because it contains the original Mass Effect trilogy. Throughout all three games, you control the customizable Commander Shepard, who is the galaxy’s best chance of stopping the impending invasion of the Reapers, an advanced synthetic force capable of wiping out the entire galaxy.

So the stakes are high, but you still get plenty of chances to put the main objective on hold while you recruit and get to know various likable companions. Outside of battle, they’re good friends, while in combat, they’re vital teammates. Speaking of combat, it’s of the third-person shooter variety, where you use various weapons and powers to defeat all sorts of different foes. The battles are fun, and the storytelling is compelling.
