Chixia is a Fusion Pistol user in Wuthering Waves and one of the starter characters. Chixia is a single target, four-star main damage dealer, and she does not have any other roles.
Chixia is often dismissed by new players and frowned upon by the community because she is a free character and due to her “lack of damage”, but this lack of damage is not low enough to give you a hard time playing the game. She does great damage against single target enemies and to unleash her full potential, a player only needs to understand her kit and have a proper build.
Farm Your Powers
Most of Chixia’s damage comes from her resonance skill and resonance liberation. New players often spam Chixia’s normal attacks, which can be underwhelming.
Chixia has two resonance skill charges. To unleash her full power, you must do basic attacks and resonance skills until her forte gauge is full. Farming the forte gauge and unleashing it by holding your resonance skill, is the most optimal way to play Chixia.
It’s always best to enter DAKA DAKA state with a full forte gauge because of Chixia’s Inherent Skill, which increases Chixia’s ATK by 1% for ten seconds, stacking up to 30 times for every bullet hit in the DAKA DAKA state.
Holding the resonance skill with a full forte gauge, pushes Chixia into the “DAKA DAKA!” state, and in this state her attacks are formidable and can easily take down any enemy.
Know Your Enemy And Yourself
One of the main advantages of using Chixia as a damage dealer is that she is among the very few characters that can move freely while dealing damage. Most characters have to be stationary to deal damage or use skills for movement. Chixia is great at Hologram challenges, where dodging and countering enemy attacks takes more priority than doing damage.
Even though Chixia can move freely in any direction while dealing damage, she can be vulnerable to enemies that teleport to the player upon exceeding a certain distance from the boss, such as the Thundering Mephis. It’s good to have a support character equipped with Bell Borne Geochelone to protect Chixia from taking too much damage.
Fire Up Your Attacks
Spamming normal attacks or even using Chixia’s aimed shots for critical hits is not the optimal way to play Chixia. The most optimal way to deal damage with Chixia is to use her normal attacks, dash cancel, and resonance skills.
When engaging in combat, start with: 4 normal attacks – Tap resonance skill – 4 normal attacks – Tap resonance skill – 4 normal attacks – Hold resonance skill – Hold normal attack (Boom Boom shot).
Using the above combo will fill your forte gauge and let you use the most powerful shot from Chixia, the Boom Boom shot.
Teamwork Makes Dream Work
At first glance, it seems like Chixia’s does all her damage from normal attacks, but no, she does most of her damage with her resonance skill. To play Chixia, a team composition that buffs elemental resonance skills, is the best way to go.
Chixia is not recommended to be used as a sub damage dealer because she takes up field time and offers no support or utility to your team. However, when in a team that is fully geared towards supporting Chixia, she can be on par with some of the top damage dealers in Wuthering Waves.
Most of Chixia’s damage comes from her resonance skill and thus, one of her best party members is Taoqi. Taoqi’s Outro skill amplifies the resonance skill damage of any incoming resonator by 38%, which is a huge damage buff for Chixia. Taoqi stacked with all team buffers like Verina, will let you clear all the content in the game without any difficulties.
