A new Katamari Damacy game is arriving soon, but there’s a catch. The new entry in the Katamari franchise will only be available on iOS devices through the Apple Arcade subscription service.
While the Katmari series has been around since 2004, it’s also undergone some relatively long stretches of dormancy over the years since its inception. The series went largely quiet between 2012-2015, and then again from 2019-2022. A remaster of We Love Katamari was released in 2023, bringing back the ball-rolling game to the forefront of some gamers’ minds. Now the series is finally getting a new entry, but it’s not going to be available to everyone.

Katamari Damacy Rolling Live has been announced for the Apple Arcade subscription service and will launch on April 3. Described as the first original game to launch in the Katamari game franchise in nearly eight years, Katamari Damacy Rolling Live will bring back the classic gameplay concepts with a bit of a twist. This time around, the player is tasked with rolling their Katamari ball across the earth to pick up objects to forge a new star. However, the title has also been given a modern flair.
What’s New In Katamari Damacy Rolling Live
As the name of the game implies, the player will be rolling their Katamari “live” in-game, with a stream of viewers watching as they do so. The King of All Cosmos is livestreaming the player’s efforts, and a stream of comments will be visible on-screen akin to what real world streamers see while broadcasting. The better a player does, the more comments and viewers the stream will receive, and improving the King’s subscriber count will also unlock new stages to play on.
In addition to a new Katamari Damacy game, Apple Arcade is seeing five other games launch on April 3. The list includes Puffies., RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+, Sesame Street Mecha Builders+, Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, and The Game of Life 2+. Prior to these launches, the service will also be adding new content to titles like NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition, PGA Tour Pro Golf, and Skate City: New York, with NBA 2K25 and PGA Tour‘s new content arriving on March 13 and Skate City‘s on March 27.
For now, it remains to be seen if Katamari Damacy Rolling Live will ever launch on other platforms. Numerous Katamari games have been ported or remade over the years, so it’s not out of the question. However, it’s likely that the game has a lengthy exclusivity contract that would need to expire first. Those who want to give the game a try can utilize a 1-month free trial with Apple Arcade to see if they’re interested in the service overall, with a $6.99 monthly fee thereafter.
