Monster Hunter Wilds: Arkveld Weaknesses

MH Wilds Arkveld Weaknesses

First, players must understand that Arkveld absorbs elemental damage. When it absorbs enough, it’ll become empowered — in this state, Arkveld unleashes two extra chainblades, and most of its attacks will deal Dragon damage. Attacking Arkveld with any element causes it to reach this state faster, but if you hit the chainblades while it’s empowered, it’ll also get knocked out of that state earlier than normal.

Arkveld Elemental Weaknesses and Weakpoints

Arkveld is resistant to most elemental damage types except for Dragon, and even then, elemental attacks only have an effect on it when you’re hitting wounds. Additionally, its chainblades are immune to elemental damage until the Arkveld becomes empowered. If you want to deal as much damage as possible, it’s better to use Raw damage with high Affinity instead.

As for weakpoints, Arkveld will take the most damage if you hit its head, wings, chainblades, and tail. Avoid hitting its torso and rear legs as much as possible, and if you’re using a Bow or a Bowgun, avoid its wings.

Arkveld Fight Tips

  • Despite its frantic movements and aggressive attacks, Arkveld is actually quite predictable.
  • After an Arkveld attacks, brace for a follow-up attack and get ready to dodge or counter.
  • When Arkveld is angry, hit its chainblades as much as you can.
  • When the monster is doing its large area attacks, stay close and dodge towards the back of its legs. Otherwise, dive away from it.
  • Consider using a Paralysis weapon to occasionally root the Arkveld in place.
  • Always have Slinger Ammo equipped in case you get grabbed.
  • Arkveld’s attacks are easy to memorize and recognize. Consider dedicating a few hunts just to familiarize yourself with its moveset.

Arkveld Spawn Locations

MH Wilds Tempered Arkveld Captured

Unlike most monsters, Arkveld can appear in any of the regions in MH Wilds. Players can spot one somewhat frequently by scanning each of the main regions, and an Arkveld isn’t present, one probably will soon.

Since Arkvelds can spawn anywhere, players get some degree of freedom when it comes to choosing a place to fight. Due to this monster’s large size, aggressive movement, and big hitboxes, we strongly recommend against fighting it in Iceshard Cliffs or the lower tunnels in the Ruins of Wyveria.
