Forget the usual last-player-standing routine — The Getaway LTM in Fortnite turns the battlefield into a high-stakes heist where escaping is just as important as fighting. Your goal? Secure a rare Jewel and make it to safety before rival squads cut your getaway short. But it won’t be as simple as grabbing the loot and running.

Fletcher Kane and Shogun X are waiting for you on the island of Fortnite: Chapter 6, Season 2. Learn how to find them!
Safes take time to crack, carrying a Jewel slows you down, and the second you pick one up, everyone on the island knows exactly where you are. With only three escape routes and plenty of players ready to ruin your plans, pulling off a clean getaway takes strategy, teamwork, and a little bit of luck. Here’s everything you need to know before making your move.
What Is The Getaway Mode?
The Getaway Limited-Time Mode (LTM) is a spin on Fortnite’s classic battle royale formula, where the goal isn’t just survival but also executing a heist. In this duo or squad mode, you must locate and secure a Jewel before making a escape in a Getaway Van. Unlike traditional matches, where victory is determined by being the last team standing, The Getaway focuses on strategy, teamwork, and high-risk plays.
What Are Jewels?
Jewels, also known as Crystal Llamas, are the central objective of this mode. These items are locked inside safes that drop from the sky, which are located at four marked locations on the map. Opening a safe takes time, leaving you vulnerable to enemy attacks. Once a Jewel is retrieved, it must be picked up and carried in your inventory. Holding a Jewel provides a passive benefit, slowly regenerating health and shields over time.
However, there is a catch, carrying a Jewel will make you move ten percent slower, making you an easier target for enemy squads. Additionally, whenever you pick up a Jewel, its location becomes visible to all players on the map for 30 seconds, increasing the challenge of making a clean getaway.
How To Win
To win The Getaway, you and your team must secure a Jewel and successfully reach one of three Getaway Vans, which are marked on the map. The first three teams to escape with a Jewel will claim victory. If a Jewel is lost in the storm or successfully extracted, a new supply drop will bring a replacement, ensuring that there are always opportunities for a comeback. Alternatively, teams can also win by eliminating all opponents in a traditional battle royale fashion.
