After unlocking the Earth Seal in Fields of Mistria and reaching level 60 of the Mines through Deep Earth, you can now unlock the Fire Seal to reach the next Mines’ biome called the Lava Caves. Of course, getting everything you need to unlock the Fire Seal in Fields of Mistria can be tricky, with numerous materials to gather, including one particularly elusive item called a Faceted Rock Gem.
Tracking down everything you need to unlock the Fire Seal also essentially involves completing two quests called ‘Breaking the Fire Seal’ and ‘Procuring the Sealing Scroll,’ with each quest requiring you to find a lot of materials. However, doing so can net you some awesome Fire Seal quest rewards in addition to reaching the Lava Caves, including the ability to unlock more areas of the map.

How to Start Breaking the Fire Seal Quest in Fields of Mistria (The Fire Tablet)
To find out what items you need to unlock the Fire Seal in Fields of Mistria, you need to trigger and complete a story quest called ‘The Fire Tablet’ that becomes available when you reach level 60 of the Mines after having previously unlocked the Water and the Earth Seals. To start ‘The Fire Tablet; quest in Fields of Mistria, enter level 60 of the Mines to trigger a cutscene of Fields of Mistria‘s Priestess appearing, when you also get the Fire Tablet Rubbing. You’ll then need to speak to Juniper to turn in the ‘The Fire Tablet’ quest, which automatically unlocks the ‘Breaking the Fire Seal’ and ‘Procuring the Sealing Scroll’ story quests.
To unlock the Fire Seal in Fields of Mistria, you’ll need to complete both the ‘Breaking the Fire Seal’ and ‘Procuring the Sealing Scroll’ story quests, which involve gathering the following items as offerings to break the Seal:
- x1 Faceted Rock Gem
- x1 Rockroot
- x1 Emerald
- x1 Sealing Scroll
Although you can find Faceted Rock Gem, Rockroot, and Emerald in the Mines, you get the Sealing Scroll via the ‘Procuring the Sealing Scroll’ quest as outlined below:
Faceted Rock Gem Location in Fields of Mistria
To get Faceted Rock Gem in Fields of Mistria, you need to use your pickaxe or shovel to unearth dig spots in the Deep Mines biome in Fields of Mistria‘s Mines, which covers levels 41-59. Dip spots can appear as circular bumps or scratch marks on the ground. Faceted Rock Gem is a green-silver, crystal-shaped uncommon artifact in Fields of Mistria which may take you numerous visits to the Mines to track it down.
We found our Faceted Rock Gem on level 58 of the Deep Mines, which appeared as an Unidentified Artifact inside a circular bump dig spot. Of course, it might show up somewhere different in the Deep Mines for you. Fortunately, you only need one Faceted Rock Gem to offer to the Fire Seal.
Rockroot Location in Fields of Mistria
You also need to find one Rockroot, which is a claw-like forageable item you can find anywhere on the ground in levels 41-59 of the Mines.
Interestingly, the game description for Rockroot says it’s hard to tell if Rockroot is part of a living plant or resembles one. If you find more than one Rockroot while exploring, you can also sell Rockroot for 20 Tesserae.

Emerald Location in Fields of Mistria
To get Emerald in Fields of Mistria, you can mine it from Emerald rock nodes in Fields of Mistria’s Deep Earth (levels 41-59 of the Mines). Naturally, Emerald is a green precious stone, so it shouldn’t be too tricky to spot. It also sometimes shows up as chunks of Emerald, giving you a couple of different nodes to look out for.
Lastly, you’ll also need the Sealing Scroll to unlock the Fire Seal in Fields of Mistria, a venture that takes you on a separate story quest called ‘Procuring the Sealing Scroll.’ A couple of days after the initial cutscene with Juniper and Balor from earlier, you’ll get a letter in your mailbox from Balor asking you to meet him in his room when you’ve got a moment.
You can find Balor’s room on the top floor on the left of the Sleeping Dragon Inn, as pictured above. On entering Balor’s room, a cutscene triggers where Balor tells you he’s got a lead on the Sealing Scroll seller who wants you to get the following items in exchange, which you can find as detailed below:
Procuring the Sealing Scroll Quest Item |
How to Get/Where to Find |
x10 Rubies |
Found by mining ruby rock nodes and ruby chunks with your pickaxe in levels 1-20 of the Mines (Upper Mines). It’s also possible to get rubies from inside chests while exploring the Upper Mines. |
x10 Sapphires |
Found by mining sapphire rock nodes and sapphire chunks in levels 21-39 of the Mines (Tide Caverns). You can also find sapphire inside silver chests in the Tide Caverns. |
x10 Emeralds |

x10 Silver Ingot |
Found by mining Silver Ore from Silver Ore nodes in levels 41-59 of the Mines (Deep Earth), with 10 Silver Ore required to craft x1 Silver Ingot at the Blacksmith’s workbench. |
After adding all the above items to Balor’s donation box by Balor’s Wagon, speak to Balor, who says he’ll come and see you tomorrow after he’s spoken to the seller, as pictured above. Turning in the quest to Balor also rewards you with 20 Renown. When you exit your house the following day, you’ll see a short cutscene of Balor giving you the Sealing Scroll, which you can now add to the offerings at the Fire Seal. Intriguingly, he warns you not to open the Scroll.
Fire Seal Rewards in Fields of Mistria
Once you’ve got everything you need to open the Fire Seal, add it to the Fire Tablet as an offering to trigger a cutscene with some unexpected and exciting results. Not only does breaking the Fire Seal enable you to reach the Lava Caves in Fields of Mistria (floors 61-80), but you also unlock the Dragon’s Breath spell, which you can use against enemies and access previously blocked areas around the map. You also get a Heart Crystal that grants you a whopping +999 Health Points.
Completing the ‘Breaking the Fire Seal’ quest is also necessary if you want to unlock the Deep Woods area of the map, as you can now use the Dragon’s Breath Spell to reach the Deep Woods.
