In Monster Hunter Wilds, Gore Magala are enormous, terrifying monsters that can take out players with one hit if they don’t have the defenses to mitigate its high raw damage – or avoid dying to its various Frenzy attacks.

Here’s a collection of tips as well as some important info on Arkveld for Monster Hunter Wilds.
To beat Gore Magala, players must keep a keen eye on their positioning and only attack when the boss isn’t performing a flurry of attacks. This guide offers tips to beat Gore Magala, explains where to find Gore Magala, and details what you can expect from Gore Magala rewards when it comes to monster parts and titles.
MH Wilds Gore Magala Location
In Monster Hunter Wilds, Gore Magala is typically encountered for the first time at the very end of the High Rank main campaign. During the quest ‘A World Turned Upside Down’ at the end of Chapter 5-2, players are charged to hunt down the Gore Magala in the Iceshard Cliffs.
After completing this assignment, the Gore Magala will spawn in the Iceshard Cliffs region exclusively. Though it can spawn in any weather condition at any time of day, it tends to spawn during the Fallow cycle in the Morning. If you go to the Iceshard Cliffs and don’t see a Gore Magala on your map, head to your tent at a Pop-Up Camp or Base Camp and Rest. Set the environment and time of day to Fallow and Morning, respectively.
The Gore Magala is also the subject of two endgame quests: ‘Shrouded in Black’ and ‘Misty Depths’. ‘Shrouded In Black’ also requires players to hunt down a Blangonga, while ‘Misty Depths’ only requires the Gore Magala to be slain.
How To Beat Gore Magala
Monsters that drape themselves in their great wings, like a black overcoat.
They have no eye sensory organs, so instead they use a scattering of fine scales from their wings to locate prey.
When their sensory capacity increases, antennae appear on their heads and they unfurl their wings, entering the aggressive Frenzy State.
Their black scales can Frenzy other creatures as well, making them fearsome adversaries.
Gore Magala Weaknesses & Weak Spots
Though it’s arguably one of the hardest monsters to beat in Monster Hunter Wilds, Gore Magala has plenty of weaknesses that players can take advantage of. And though it doesn’t have traditional sensory organs anywhere on its enormous body, that doesn’t mean it does not have any weak spots to target.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How to Beat Uth Duna
Monster Hunter Wilds has many monsters to defeat. Here is how to defeat Uth Duna, a brand-new monster to the series.
The only elemental damage type it is resistant to is Water, which is ineffective against any of the monster’s parts. It is immune to Flash Poda and Sonic Bombs, but it can be affected by every status effect. That’s right – even a monster as big as this can be Paralyzed, put to Sleep, Stunned, or Exhausted.

In particular, the antenna on its head, its jaw, its tail, and its wings are all breakable weak spots. Gore Magala’s torso is very well defended, but its wings and legs will take a little bit of extra damage from all regular weapon attacks.
Gore Magala Attacks To Watch Out For
The Gore Magala has a huge number of attacks that are deadly if you don’t have highly upgraded High Rank gear equipped. Of all moves in the vast Gore Magala moveset, players must watch out for its close-range slam attacks, cleaves, and its long-range Frenzy blasts.
The close-range slam sees the boss rise up, stand on its hind legs, then crash down with all of its might, blasting you backward and inflicting Frenzy. This is the monster’s single hardest-hitting attack, and if you don’t have good armor, it can one-shot you.
If your HP bar is going haywire, it means you are in range to get one-shot by this move, so sprint to the side (or call your Seikret) to get out of there quickly.

The boss will charge, swipe, and slash at the Hunter, all attacks that can be avoided by dodging twice to the side. Monster Hunter Wilds players who dodge underneath the boss, rather than away from it, will find they are able to avoid the majority of its melee attacks.
Melee players have an easier time in this fight than ranged players because of how much more defensive your positioning is under the Gore Magala.
Don’t dodge into the boss during its charge attacks, and watch for which side it rears back to do its swipe attacks – dodge to the other side to avoid the incoming attack.
In particular, look for the boss to rear up to one side, which indicates it is about to cleave with its claws or blast a Frenzy cloud around itself. Dodge at least twice underneath the boss to get out of the AoE range.
Gore Magala Strategies
- Stay underneath the boss as much as you possibly can. Because of how large this boss is, it’s possible to avoid nearly all of its melee attacks by staying under its torso. But don’t stick to its tail – if you hang out by its rear for too long, it may swipe its tail, which is difficult to avoid.
- When the boss takes to the air, mount your Seikret and focus on avoiding its ranged Frenzy blasts instead of dealing damage (unless you are using a ranged build). It doesn’t hang out in the air for long, and will eventually crash down to the ground again.
- Because this boss can inflict Frenzy with almost all of its attacks (but especially attacks that use smoke), make sure you have some Nulberries in your item pouch.
- This boss moves fast and hits hard. Remember to get a Food Buff, bring along your Power and Armor Charms, craft high-level Potions, and be prepared to make space to heal.
- When the monster is stunned or Paralyzed, it’s better to heal yourself up than to deal damage to the downed beast.
- The Gore Magala will typically move to a location with Floating Rubble environmental hazards. Use these to your advantage by positioning the Gore Magala in between you and the Floating Rubble, then use your slinger to pull it and deal massive damage with this environmental trap.
