Solo Leveling is one of the most popular manhwa of all time, if not just straight-up the most famous. Created by Chugong and the late Sung-rak Jang, it first debuted in 2018 on Tapas and Pocket Comics in the US. Solo Leveling or “Only I Level Up” obtained worldwide renown nearly overnight for its stunning visuals and action-packed story. The story is set in a world where portals to an alternate dimension filled with monsters open up randomly across the land, and powerful individuals called “Hunters” enter those portals to protect the populace and obtain fame and glory.

Sung Jin-woo is the main character of Solo Leveling and one of the most powerful hunters in the series due to his second awakening. He started as a weak tag-along who could barely make it through the lowest-level dungeons and would usually be relegated to collecting loot and carrying equipment.

Cha Hae is a somewhat reserved and distant individual who comes off as off-putting due to her unique sense of smell. Additionally, Cha Hae is an expert swordswoman with blinding speed, able to cut down hordes of monsters in an instant. She specializes in attack skills, such as Sword of Light and Sword Dancer. She takes a special interest in Sung as he does not smell like other hunters.

Baek Yoonho is one of the strongest Hunters in Korea and leads his own guild, which is filled with dedicated members who are utterly loyal to him for his leadership and commitment to his guild members, whom he considers family. He has a rough outer exterior and is not seen as approachable, but he is a noble individual with a sense of honor.
Baek Yoonho specializes in transformation magic and channels the animal traits of his beast form, which come through in his personality quite often. When transforming completely, Baek dawns the appearance of a majestic king of beasts.

However, with all his power, Go Gunhee carries himself as a very approachable individual, despite being in charge of the entire Hunter’s association in Korea. He shows respect to most other hunters, while demanding the same. He takes a special interest in Sung, hoping to convince him to join the Korean Hunters Association.

It crippled Lee thinking about how she abandoned Sung Jin-woo, and she could barely step forward into a dungeon without breaking into a sweat due to guilt and fear. She eventually overcomes her stress condition and her guilt by reconciling with Sung and moving on, retiring from being a hunter.

Song Chi-Yul was another original member of the party who entered the double dungeon and one of the only four who survived. Sung Chi-Yul was an accomplished Hunter, although low-ranking, who saw himself as a mentor to up-and-coming rankers like Sung.
After losing his arm, Song Chi-Yul lost his arm in the dungeon and tried to retire, but was brought back into hunting after falling on hard times. Being a talented mage, Song Chi-Yul was also a talented physical combatant, thanks to his everyday life activities. Upon reuniting with Sung Jinwoo, he could finally put his past behind him, seeing how much the young man had grown up.
