Sodaman is another entry in the incredibly prolific genre of Vampire Survivors clones, putting you in the boots of the titular character. Given his moniker, it’s clear that he loves a fizzy soft drink, and in this universe they give you superpowers.
However, soda isn’t the only source of power in this game. In-run, you can find chests that contain Spark Cards. These cards give you a significant boost in power, and even encourage you to shift your playstyle on the fly. You choose one of two cards in each chest, and you can only hold five. If you wanna know what cards to hold, and what cards to fold, here are some of the best.
This game is in Early Access, and this info might not be accurate as the game evolves. Also, none of the cards are named, so we approximated one for each card.
8
Candy (Red)
Every level-up, you get to choose one Soda that gives you an ability for the rest of the run. The Sodas are varied, but each of them gives you a significant power boost.
The other way you can get Sodas is to defeat elite enemies and minibosses, which will drop a can of a random color.
This card, while simple, is also quite useful. It makes the can-dropping enemies yield an extra Soda, basically giving you a level-up for defeating a tough enemy. One extra Soda can on a few powerful enemies might not seem like much, but in a game where enemies quickly scale in power, the extra cans often make the difference between getting your build online and a game over.

Coffee Pot
Sodaman is not generous with healing, and you’ll find that they’re an uncommon drop from the crystals on the field. There also aren’t many other ways to heal, with only a few Sodas giving you a means to heal, and not that many Spark Cards.

This is one such card. It heals you when you reload, the heal being proportional to your reload time. You might think that Coffee Pot is only useful on the slower-loading weapon, and you’re mostly right. But consider this: you reload much more on the faster-loading weapons, getting healed much more often.
6
Alien Shield
This is one of the more interesting and fun Spark cards, forcing you to really consider your build and giving you a pretty major power spike should you meet its requirements. This card gives a big boost to your global damage and firing rate, and a chunk of Max HP for good measure. The catch is that it only works if every card except this one is of the same rarity.
This means with this on hand, you’ll have to make the decision of discarding cards that don’t match your rarity, cards that you’d normally pick up. The choice of which rarity you go with is also impactful. Do you go with common cards that are easy to find but are weaker? Or rarer cards that are much more impactful, but more difficult to find?
5
Magnet
Two things in this game make it a hassle to gather experience: not every enemy drops an experience gem, and it incentivizes you to stay on the move. This means until you find a way to gather gems while still getting to your various destinations, or hope you luck into a magnet pickup.
The pickup range Spark Card is a viable option, and you should grab one when you can. However, you can also find the Magnet Spark Card, which is much more reliable at any distance. This card attracts all Collectibles (EXP and money) on the map to you every minute, meaning you no longer have to think about picking them up and instead focus on good positioning.
4
Microchip (Green)
Another way to heal, this Microchip gives you one HP for every 50 enemies you kill. While that might not sound like a good exchange rate, keep in mind that given the rarity of healing in this game, you don’t have many options.
Also, it’s stronger than it sounds. If you think about it, it’s not even difficult. Enemies come to you in big waves, and you could mow down more than 50 of them in short order if your build is in good shape. Think of it more as a passive healing. After all, what are you going to do, not kill all the monsters after you?
3
Scissor Blade (Red)
If you’re a fan of Kill la Kill, then you’ll know that this is a blade worthy of Ryuko Matoi herself. The red Scissor Blade gives a small boost to your attack damage, Soda damage, or global damage when you level up.
Of course, the earlier you can find this, the better since it takes longer to level up the higher your level. But unless you find this near the end of a run or after having a completed Spark Card build, it’s never really a bad idea.
Don’t worry that what gets boosted is random. It all adds up to one thing: damage.
2
Scissor Blade (Purple)
Sister to, and villainous variant of the red Scissor Blade, this purple version boosts the finesse side of combat, namely your firing rate, reload speed, or movement speed instead. A lot of things about the red Scissor Blade apply to this one as well. It pays much more to get it earlier, and it’s rarely a bad pick.
While the benefits are far more different from each other than in the red Scissor Blades, they’re all still good to have. However, it’s arguable that the purple Scissor Blade has a bigger impact on your playstyle.
1
Ruby Ring
The Ruby Ring is a pretty good synthesis of offense and defense, even if its numbers look small at first blush. It gives a small boost to your critical strike chance, and a ten percent chance on every critical hit to heal an HP.
Admittedly, the Ruby Ring isn’t for every build. You can’t just toss it in with the rest of your cards if you want a big effect, and if you can’t accommodate it, then you’re better off discarding it for something else.
However, if you build around critical strike chance on a rapid-hitting weapon, then you’ll be healing so often that you no longer have to worry about healing, and you’ll be dealing good damage to boot.
