The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a lot of room for new talent as it gears up for another event on the scale of Infinity War (or bigger) and a new rumor suggests that the company’s casting eye might have fallen on a really hot prospect.
The MCU started out at a disadvantage, with many of Marvel’s biggest names having their rights held outside the purview of the newly created Marvel Studios. As such, the new franchise would proceed to build up much less mainstream heroes for its headline team, eventually forming the first iteration of the Avengers in the live-action interconnected universe. Led by Robert Downey Jr’s amazing performance as Tony Stark and Iron Man, the Avengers would be at the center of the franchise’s massive explosion in popularity during its first major event. With the Avengers all but gone following the end of the Infinity Saga, it became clear that any of those departed MCU heroes returning would be a bad move for the franchise.

The conversation around the franchise suggests that many upcoming MCU projects have been making bids for big names to fill in new, important roles in the franchise, with one prominent example being that Spider-Man 4 was recently rumored to be eyeing Star Wars star Daisy Ridley for a role in the upcoming film, and now a recent report suggests that there’s another high profile target that could wind up in Marvel Studios’ casting web. According to scooper Daniel Richtman on Patreon, the company has now set its sights on rising Hollywood starlet Mikey Madison to play an important role in the franchise’s upcoming slate of films. Madison, who has previously had roles in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the Addams Family animated film, and even the Scream franchise, is currently free from major obligations following her last project. While Richtman didn’t offer any further details on the why or what, it’s pretty clear why Marvel Studios is considering bringing her into the fold.
In addition to her young age, good looks, and proven acting ability, making Madison a great fit for a plethora of potential MCU roles, there’s also the small additional fact that she recently won an Oscar, amongst a small army of other accolades, for her work as the lead in Anora. Anora beat the impressive film The Substance handily across various Oscar categories at the recently concluded awards ceremony, including the Oscar for Actress In A Leading Role going to Madison. This honor makes the 25-year-old one of the hottest young stars in the industry, and casting her in the upcoming project would get the eyes of many film fans on the project. This would be a massive win, as the audience for films like Anora is one of the few demographics that don’t care much for superhero films at all. Even without that draw, Madison would still be a pretty prestigious addition to the cast, and could even take on a bigger role in the franchise depending on what character she’s being eyed to play.
While there are too many possible roles that Madison could potentially be taking on, fans can be pretty much sure it’s not going to be any of the street-level heroes or villains that fans previously believed to be on their way. While Daredevil: Born Again seems to be on track in that regard (despite some dodgy superhuman feats from its lead), the recent MCU concept art dump makes it clear where the franchise is headed. For now, fans will have to see if the rumor is actually true, and if Hollywood’s most in demand actress will be able to find time to join the industry’s biggest franchise.
