Aftershock is a mechanic introduced in Zenless Zone Zero 1.6. Alongside this system, the game introduced three new characters, which are Trigger, Pulchra, and Soldier 0 – Anby, all of which have abilities that revolve around the Aftershock effect.

What Is Aftershock In ZZZ?
Aftershock is a character-related mechanic that only a few characters can trigger. It’s not a universal effect like Anomaly or Daze; it’s just a type of attack that few characters have in their kit. For example, Soldier 0 – Anby can trigger multiple attacks that are considered as Aftershock DMG, especially from her EX Special Attack. To elaborate more on how Sanby’s Aftershock works, every time Silver Soldier Anby hits enemies, she builds the Silver Star mark on them, which is a meter that has up to three stacks of White Thunder. When casting her Special Attack Azure Flash, she will quickly dash and slash enemies, consuming one stack of White Thunder on them and dealing an Aftershock DMG. Silver Soldier Anby has another occurrence of Aftershock DMG in her Special Attack Thunder Smite description; when she consumes three White Thunder stacks, Soldier 0 – Anby will deal an Aftershock DMG, scaling with the Special Attack Thunder Smite skill.
In conclusion, Aftershock is a type of attack that exists according to the characters’ skill descriptions. Each one differs based on who has the Aftershock effect. You’ll find the characters that have Aftershock in their skill heavily depend on this occurrence to increase their DPS in Zenless Zone Zero. It’s also important enough to be part of the characters’ Core Passives and Additional Abilities, where they buff Aftershock for themselves or the entire team.
Characters like Pulchra and Trigger have Aftershock in their kit, and it seems the Aftershock mechanics will expand in the future as well. While Trigger is an Electric-Stun unit in Zenless Zone Zero, Pulchra is a Physical-Stun unit, which means Aftershock is not exclusive to Electric characters and can be a mechanic for any new character in the game.
