World of Warcraft has rolled out some significant nerfs to Brann’s new tanking specialization in Patch 11.1, including reductions to his damage and health, increases to his damage taken, and adjustments to many of his abilities. These changes were made in response to the Delve companion being a bit too potent in World of Warcraft Season 2, especially when paired with a dedicated healer.
Season 2 of World of Warcraft: The War Within began on March 4, bringing a new dungeon, raid, and several Delves and variants to the game. It also marked the addition of a tanking specialization for Brann Bronzebeard, the Delve companion for The War Within.

Unfortunately, now that the first week of the season has come and gone, it seems Brann was a little too good at his new job. In a forum post by WoW community manager Kaivax, World of Warcraft revealed that Brann’s tanking specializations would be receiving some significant nerfs. The damage and metrics of many of the companion’s abilities have been reduced, his health has decreased by 20%, and his damage taken has been increased by a whopping 60%.
According to the post, World of Warcraft made these changes because tank Brann was overperforming in many places, but especially when paired with a healer. Within the first week, healers reported clearing Tier 11 Delves solo with Brann as a tank with little difficulty. While World of Warcraft wants to let dedicated healers solo Delves with Brann using this new tank specialization, his previous balance made the playstyle much better than any other specialization combinations.
Of course, fans are not happy about these changes. Many disagree that tank Brann was too powerful, saying his health had dropped quickly if they pulled more than one group of foes at a time. Others think these damage nerfs will make it so that running Delves as a healer will become a slog now, as it will take too long for Brann to kill their enemies. While many see where Blizzard was coming from with these nerfs, the majority of the community seems to think they were an overcorrection.
Luckily, World of Warcraft has clarified that it will make offsetting balance adjustments if these Brann nerfs swing him too far in the opposite direction. Until then, players should be aware that Brann will not be quite as strong a tank while entering Delves in World of Warcraft: The War Within Season 2.
WoW Delves Tank Brann Adjustments – March 11, 2025
Over the first few days of Season 2, we’ve noted that Brann’s Tank specialization has been the best choice for completing Delves by a lot. While we’re excited to support a true healing-focused playstyle in Delves for players who prefer that gameplay, Brann’s new Tank specialization has simply proven to be too powerful when players hang back and just focus on healing him.
Our goal is for Brann’s specs to be roughly balanced against each other, and for the difficulty of Delves to offer a satisfying progression whatever a player’s preferred playstyle is.
With this goal in mind, we are making tuning adjustments to Tank Brann with maintenance in each region:
Delves
Brann Bronzebeard
- Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff now grants 30% increased damage per stack (was 25%).
- Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff will no longer stack with DPS and Tank specialization heal over time or passive off healing effects.
- Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff now has a 5 second Heal over Time/Passive healing internal cooldown for Healer specializations. Does not affect beneficial spell casts that are not heal over time or passive.
- Electro-Charged Gadgets damage buff now stacks up to 12 times (was 20).
- Tank Brann Boomstick Blitz damage reduced by 35%.
- Tank Brann Boomstick Blitz deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets.

- Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear second stomp damage reduced by 25%
- Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear third stomp damage reduced by 35%.
- Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear stomp damage deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets.
- Pinged Augment Chip now grants 4%/6%/8%/10% maximum health with respects to its rank.
- Pinged Augment Chip now causes Brann to lose all threat if the bot hits him.
- Pinged Augment Chip fixate debuff will now have a large icon display.
- An issue causing Brann to double dip on the benefits of Bronzebeard’s Brown Bear maximum health and dodge chance has been resolved.
As always, our aim is to provide a more-balanced experience that allows for greater diversity in playstyles and choices. We will be closely following players’ Delve experiences in the coming days and will make offsetting balance changes if needed.
