That’s because reaching certain areas requires meeting specific conditions. For example, to access Spooky Swamp, you need to collect Yellow Power Crystals, and to fully explore Rainbow Reef, you’ll need a Snorkel and Flippers.

However, your biggest obstacle is actually your limited Stamina. With low Stamina, you can’t explore what’s hidden on high cliffs or deep-sea trenches. To increase your Stamina, you’ll need to find Stamina Apple Slices. This guide will help you locate some Golden Chests that contain them.

All Golden Chest Locations

Golden Chests are hidden treasure chests scattered throughout Friendship Island, each containing a Stamina Apple Slice.

Once you’ve collected five Stamina Apple Slices for the first time, Chococat will give you the Fantastic Fruit quest, along with the crafting recipe for the Stamina Apple. With this recipe, you can craft a Stamina Apple using five Stamina Apple Slices to permanently increase your stamina.

In addition to finding Stamina Apple Slices in Golden Chests, you can also obtain them by reaching certain friendship levels with specific characters:

All Golden Chest Locations In Seaside Resort

There are two Golden Chests in Seaside Resort. The first one is very likely already collected since you enter the puzzle room called Beginner’s Bridge during the ‘Power Up The Gate’ quest. If you missed it, don’t worry.

To find Beginner’s Bridge, start from Chococat’s crafting bench, head left, and follow the plank path. When the road splits, go northwest to find the entrance to the puzzle room. Solve the puzzle by placing the golden cube on the purple button, and you will see the Golden Chest at the far end of the room.

The second Golden Chest in Seaside Resort is located on Hopscotch Island in the northwest. Fast travel to the mailbox there and climb the hill to your right. Use the log on the hill to climb to the highest point, where you will find the Golden Chest.

All Golden Chest Locations In Spooky Swamp

There is only one Golden Chest in Spooky Swamp. To find it, fast travel to the Ghost Tour Ride location in the northwest. Head south and climb the rocky hill. The Golden Chest is to the right of the large tree at the top.

All Golden Chest Locations In Rainbow Reef

To find the first Golden Chest in Rainbow Reef, you’ll need Flippers. Fast travel to the Moon Island mailbox in Seaside Resort. Jump into the ocean to the right and swim east. After a short swim, you’ll see floating crates, with the Golden Chest sitting on a rock beside them.

To find the other Golden Chest in Rainbow Reef, you’ll need the Snorkel. Fast travel to the Kelp Maze location. Swim northwest from there, and after a short distance, you’ll reach the dock south of Gemstone Mountain. Stop right in front of it and dive underwater. In this deep-sea trench, you’ll find a Golden Chest.

All Golden Chest Locations In Gemstone Mountain

To find the first Golden Chest in Gemstone Mountain, fast travel to the Oasis mailbox. Head southwest and follow the plank path south. After descending a ladder and passing under a rock arch, leave the plank path and head directly south. Climb the rocky hill to find the Golden Chest at the top.

The second Golden Chest is in the northeastern part of Gemstone Mountain, near Icy Peak Entrance. Fast travel there, swim across the small pond to the right, and climb the rocky hill to find the Golden Chest.

For the third Golden Chest, you’ll need Snorkel, Flippers, and the Mermaid Outfit or extra stamina. Fast travel to Icy Peak Entrance, head southwest, and jump down. Continue upward until you find the entrance to Crystal Caves. In the middle of the large lake inside, dive down to find a hidden puzzle room entrance. The Golden Chest is located to the right of this entrance.

All Golden Chest Locations In Mount Hothead

To find the first Golden Chest, you need to complete the Enraging Ruins quest to unlock the Upper Ruins Entrance fast travel point. However, if you have a high enough stamina pool, you can skip the quest and reach this location by climbing instead.

From the fast travel point, start by heading right, where you’ll see a balcony area. Jump onto the rocks just outside the balcony and carefully make your way along them. From here, you need to jump southeast to another balcony area that looks similar to the first one.

This second balcony features three distinct doorways. Once you land, proceed south through this area. As you move forward, you’ll soon spot the Golden Chest sitting on the right side, ready to be collected.

For the second Golden Chest, you need to have started the Fire Up The Volcano quest, though completing it is not required. Another way to reach this location is by traveling from the Caldera fast travel point, but keep in mind that you’ll need additional stamina to make the journey.

From the Mount Hothead fast travel point, head directly west until you find a temple entrance marked by a star symbol, with two braziers standing in front of it. Once inside, open your map—your goal is the largest room in the area, which features a massive lava lake. To get there, use the minecart when possible and continue on foot.

As you reach the lava lake, proceed south, but be cautious—the stone platforms will start sinking into the lava if you stand on them for too long. Carefully time your jumps across the platforms. After making it past the first section, turn left and continue along the path until you reach the southwest part of the room, where the Golden Chest is waiting for you.
