Wednesday Fans Can Watch Jenna Ortega’s 2022 Horror Movie Studio 666

Jenna Ortega in Studio 666

Jenna Ortega starred in the 2022 horror movie Studio 666, which doesn’t get as much attention as popular 2022 horror releases such as X and Barbarian. The story follows Ortega’s character Skye Willow, a drummer for a heavy metal band called Dream Widow who has a weird and terrifying experience along with her bandmates in 1993. Then the story shifts to 2019 and features the Foo Fighters dealing with Dave Grohl’s demonic possession after they record an album in a haunted mansion. The other band members who appear in the movie include Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, the late Taylor Hawkins, and Rami Jaffee.

Written by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes and directed by B.J. McDonnell, Studio 666 will appeal to fans of movies about demonic possession who want to see a new take on that trope. It’s fun to see the Foo Fighters in a film, and Grohl does a great job as the character who is taken over by the terrifying force in this old house.

Although Ortega has a smaller role than in some of her other horror movies, it’s still enjoyable to see her portray Skye, who is just as compelling as her Scream (2022) and Scream 6 character Tara Carpenter. Ortega is so talented that she stands out even when she’s playing a brief role.

It’s interesting to hear the cast of Studio 666 talk about the film since it’s such a unique story and a twist on a haunted house horror movie. According to Billboard, Dave Grohl said on an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2022 that he came up with the concept. He described it as, “band moves into creepy old house, starts making a record, the house is haunted, I become possessed, I murder the whole band and go solo.” Although of course there are more than a few movies about characters being taken over by demons and devils, no other movie features the Foo Fighters, and this element is entertaining.

Which other cast members are in Studio 666?

  • Jeff Garlin
  • Will Forte
  • Leslie Grossman
  • Whitney Cummings
  • Jimmi Simpson
  • John Carpenter
  • Kerry King
  • Lionel Richie

Ortega talked about Studio 666 in a 2022 interview with Entertainment Weekly about her horror movie resume. She loved working on the film and said:

“So cool. I had been a massive fan of the Foo Fighters… I got to meet everybody. I got to do the screaming, crying, thing, and I got to listen to disco every morning with Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins and Pat Smear, and it was a dream.”

Where Can Fans Stream Studio 666?

Fans can stream Jenna Ortega’s 2022 horror movie Studio 666 on Amazon Prime Video, the Roku Channel and Pluto. Ortega fans can also stream X, the first movie in Ti West’s trilogy on Max and Scream (2022) and Scream 6 on Paramount+.

Several Blumhouse horror movies have over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, but Studio 666 wasn’t rated the same. While Studio 666 has a 56% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an 80% rating on the Tomatometer. Even though some critics didn’t enjoy it, Studio 666 is a must watch for Jenna Ortega fans who want to see every project she has been part of. It’s a fun story that doesn’t take itself seriously, and fans of horror comedies such as Bodies Bodies Bodies will appreciate it.
