Ever since the release of Two Point Hospital back in 2018, Two Point Studios has been taking players on some wild simulation adventures. Not only did it expand that experience greatly with updates and post-launch content, but it also took the formula to new heights with Two Point Campus and Two Point Museum. And while Two Point Studios may have only recently released Two Point Museum, all eyes are on what the studio plans to do next.
There are many directions that Two Point Studios could take its simulation franchise, with countless industries waiting to be explored. One such industry comes in the form of the retail world, but more specifically malls. For years, the simulation genre has been trying to capture the feeling of running a mall to no avail. But, through Two Point Studios’ tried-and-true formula, players may finally get the mall tycoon they have been waiting for. As long as it maintains the heart and charm of other Two Point titles, it could lead to a fantastic simulation experience.

While the Two Point franchise may have tackled a bunch of different settings, there is one business that feels like the perfect fit for the series.
Two Point Feels Built for a Mall Tycoon
Mall Tycoons Have Struggled to Capture Players
When simulation fans think of mall tycoons, they may think back to 2002’s aptly titled Mall Tycoon. This business simulation game was developed by Holistic Designs and gave players control over their very own mall. They were in charge of building the mall, ensuring it was filled with shops, and managing every aspect of it to try and build the biggest mall around. While that sounds like a recipe for success, many players found it frustrating and lacking in most aspects. However, it would go on to spawn two sequels, which also struggled to make an impact.
Besides the Mall Tycoon trilogy, there have been a couple of other attempts at capturing the feeling of running a mall. 2004 saw the release of Mall of America Tycoon, titles such as King of Retail and Big Ambitions have put players in the shoes of an entrepreneur, and Project Highrise featured a DLC solely focused on malls in Miami. Outside of that, the best mall experience so far may come in the indie title Another Brick in the Mall, which gives players a 2D world to build their dream mall within. While that can make for some fun experiences, these titles seem to be missing something truly captivating and immersive.
Two Point Could Finally Deliver a True Mall Tycoon Experience
One of the biggest reasons that Two Point Studios feels perfect for a mall tycoon is the world that it has created. Its titles have a very distinct Sims-like humor to them, complete with funny antics and hilarious announcements that serve as player’s constant companions throughout the game. Plus, players are required to assist a wide variety of people with their needs, much like a shopkeeper would. With a few tweaks, that formula feels like it would fit incredibly well into the mall landscape.
Of course, the comedic writing and style of the Two Point franchise does not mean that the studio will be able to craft a fantastic mall experience. However, the gameplay mechanics that it has refined across these three titles have also been a standout. It may not be the deepest mechanics out there, but its gameplay loop is extremely satisfying, and as of now, it seems to fit whatever business the studio wants to throw at it.
Through the three Two Point titles, Two Point Studios has shown that it may actually be the best one suited to deliver all sorts of business simulators. Already, it brought back the days of Theme Hospital, gave players the feeling of running their own college campus, and is now challenging them to design their very own museums. Through these three titles, the studio has refined its craft and built a pretty distinct style that has kept players coming back for more. So, even though there are many routes it could take the concept next, malls should be next on the list.
