Kaitlyn Dever has unfortunately been getting a lot of online hate because some people think she’s not right for the role. However, she’s determined to do the best she can and bring the character to life for the show’s second season.
Focusing Her Energy In The Right Direction
In a conversation with ScreenRant, Denver was asked about her feelings on how fans anticipate the character. Abby’s physicality was a big factor in the game, but Denver was not asked to bulk up for the role, because the producers wanted to try another approach. However, while she’s aware of how some of these people feel, she’s not too worried about it.
“Well, it’s hard not to see those things on the internet,” she replied. It’s hard not to stop myself from looking at it every once in a while, especially going into this, for sure. And I want to do this character justice and make the fans proud by bringing her to life in this kind of way.
“But my main focus was just the collaboration between Neil and Craig, and making sure I was really getting to the core of who she is and what drives her and her emotional state; her anger and her frustration and her grief and all of that. I wanted to make sure that that was what I was focusing most of my energy on.”
