Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima, Episode 20, “Maximum”, now streaming on Crunchyroll.
Now that Dragon Ball Daima is over, it’s time to look back at what Goku and his friends have accomplished in the Demon Realm. Sure, their main goal there was just to rescue Dende and get their adult forms back, but they ended up changing the Demon Realm in more ways than any of them probably expected to. The Demon Realm is almost a completely different place after the events of Daima compared to when the series started.
From toppling the government to possibly changing how their Dragon Balls work, a huge portion of the Demon Realm population has been affected by Goku and the Z Fighters’ actions, both directly and indirectly. While the Demon Realm hasn’t appeared or been mentioned in any significant way in the latest releases of the Dragon Ball Super manga, it’s still useful to know what’s changed just in case it does.

Fans speculate that Daima and Super are set in different timelines, and an interview with Akio Iyuko seems to vaguely hint at that.
A New Regime
Down with Gomah, Up with Majin Kuu
The biggest change is the tearing down of Supreme Demon King Gomah’s regime. Gomah used to rule with an iron fist that was even tighter than Dabura’s. He enforced a new law that would drain the lives of citizens who couldn’t pay for their required offerings, which he also raised. He also used the Gendarmerie to keep a watchful eye on the realm and eliminate anyone who disagreed with him. Leaders like Kadan, king of the Third Demon World, seemed like nothing more than figureheads since it was really the Gendarmerie that held the authority.
But now that Majin Kuu has taken over, the future is looking bright for the Demon Realm’s citizens. Already, Kuu has appointed several ministers from all three Demon Worlds, contrary to how Gomah did it, centralizing all the power within his castle in the First Demon World. Majin Kuu also seemed to select ministers who weren’t only physically or intellectually adept, but also those who had goodness in their hearts, further evidencing that his leadership would be for the betterment of the Demon Realm and its citizens.
Ease of Travel Between the Three Demon Worlds
To enter the First Demon World, Neva had to break the magical barriers he had placed between the three Demon Worlds. Before that, the only way to travel between the Demon Worlds was to use Sir Warp. Additionally, a second opening was created during the battle against Third Eye Gomah. Super Saiyan 4 Goku unleashed an incredibly powerful Kamehameha that not only bore a hole in Gomah but also pierced through the First Demon World’s ceiling, all the way up to the Third Demon World.
Easier travel between the Demon Worlds isn’t the only benefit these entrances provide. Specifically, the Third Demon World also has the added benefit of gaining lighter air. Apparently, the open tunnels leading to the Second Demon World allow wind to push the heavy gas up, allowing flight to be a safer and less exhausting act in the Third Demon World now.
“Since the tunnel’s open, wind’s pushing the gas up, making the air lighter.” – King Kadan to Goku about the improvements to the Third Demon World

Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Post-Credits Scene, Explained
Dragon Ball Daima ended, but not without giving fans a little treat that hinted at a sequel.
Dende Tries to Bring Nomad Namekians Back to the Demon Realm
Neva Might Have Some Company Incoming
After Gomah’s defeat, the Namekians Piccolo, Neva, and Dende have a talk about what’s next for them. Piccolo and Dende told Neva they’d have to return to Earth because that’s where their duties lie. However, Dende also informed him that he’d try to find the nomad Namekians who lost their Planet Namek out in the universe and invite them to stay in the Demon Realm with Neva.
Now, it’s not entirely clear who those nomad Namekians are, but one possibility is that a group of Namekians may have decided to wander the universe after the Frieza Saga. New Namek was a planet the Namekians searched for after the defeat of Frieza. It had similar features to the destroyed Namek, but perhaps that just wasn’t enough for some Namekians. They might not have liked this new planet for whatever reason, which is why they became nomads. Hopefully, they find the conditions of the Demon Realm and the original Namek more to their liking.
The Dragon Balls Might Not Be Guarded by the Tamagami Anymore
Neva May Give the Demon Realm’s Citizens a Fairer Shot
Now, compared to the other changes stated above, this one is just speculation, but it’s something that could definitely happen. As seen after Glorio made his wish to the Demon Realm’s Porunga, the three Dragon Balls launched into the air and spread across the Demon Realm instead of returning to their guardians, the Tamagami.
Now, admittedly, Neva has shown the power to immediately summon the entire set of Dragon Balls on whatever world/realm he’s in. In Dragon Ball Daima episode 1, “Conspiracy”, Neva displayed his powers to summon all of Earth’s Dragon Balls and restore them from their stone forms since they had only recently been used. But at the very least, at the credits roll, there were images of the Tamagami on their posts without the Dragon Balls lodged in their chests. So for now, the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls can be collected in the same way the Dragon Balls on Earth are, by finding them scattered all over the place.
