The long-running, retro-futuristic RPG franchise has wowed gamers for years with its imaginative take on post-apocalyptic life. In Fallout 76, players got a compelling MMO that also serves as a prequel to the core series.

Initially released to considerable fan and critical scorn, with Bethesda’s long-running issues with glitches and bugs rearing its head once again. Beneath the technical issues, Fallout 76 is an engaging piece of lore-building fun that introduces gamers to the Fallout take on West Virginia. Tasked with exploring, and ultimately re-developing, the post-nuclear war world, gamers have a variety of zany hijinks, missions, and monsters to deal with, with several add-ons further building the world and narrative in the years since its initial 2018 release.

Strong

Unlike most other MMO titles where the players grind in a single run to build and expand their territory or rank continuously, Once Human introduces a system known as Scenarios, which requires the players to start from scratch almost every month.

In Once Human, each scenario offers a different map, game mode, and gameplay rules. While this wipes the player’s progress from the recent scenario, they get to store everything they achieved in a secluded land known as Eternaland. This is where the players build their home and customize it to their liking, but there are no threats or shooting in this region.

All the actions happen in scenarios, and they have a limited time in certain phases. So, each scenario wraps up in a certain amount of time, requiring the player to make progress and beat the scenario bosses within the timeframe to get the most out of their thrilling journey.

Warframe

An Ever-Evolving Sci-Fi Action With True Free-To-Play

Released

March 25, 2013

OpenCritic Rating

Fair

What makes Warframe one of the best ever free-to-play MMOs to exist is the fact that it does not try to trick the players. Destiny 2 introduces itself as a free-to-play game, but nearly 80% of the game’s content is locked behind paid expansions and season passes. But Warframe does not do that. This game receives new story content every year, and it is absolutely free to anyone. The developers don’t even hesitate to give away some amazing skins to players for free as well.

Speaking of the gameplay, Warframe still nails it. Similar to any other MMO game, it is quite grindy, and it will take a decent amount of time to get going in the game, but the action is actually fun, as it almost feels like a third-person version of Destiny 2, with breathtaking boss battles and gorgeous environment design.

Thanks to Warframe‘s community-friendly path, this game is here to stay for a long time, and it is worth putting time into it, as the community just keeps growing year after year.
