Full of wonderful characters and tender moments, Wanderstop is a joy to play.

While the game is fairly straightforward and simple, at least gameplay-wise, there are quite a few hidden details, secret conversations, and other bits you may have missed during your playthrough. Below, we’ll take a look at some of the best of these hidden details.

There will be a few spoilers for the story of Wanderstop below!

Drinking Water

The dishwasher in the tea shop in Wanderstop.

Alta has a unique reaction for drinking tea made with each type of plant, but have you tried giving her a cup of water? Whether it’s hot or cold, Alta even has a unique thought to hear when she drinks a cup of water.

Hearing Alta’s thoughts and memories about each type of plant is one of the highlights of the game, but it isn’t strictly required for the story. Still, if you want to see as much of the game as possible, you’ll want to brew each type of tea, plus other drinks like coffee, special requests from customers, and of course, water.

There are also unique thoughts for drinking mushrooms, or tea without any additional flavors.

Boro’s Tea Reactions

Every time you make a new flavor of tea, you can also give Boro a cup to see his reaction to it. He has unique dialogue for every fruit or plant used to make a drink, in the same way that Alta does. However, it’s a little harder to track which of Boro’s reactions you’ve seen, because he doesn’t have a stamp in the Handbook.

Still, giving Boro your leftover tea can lead to some interesting conversations and bits of lore, so we definitely recommend trying it out.

Incorrect Order Reactions

While you’re at it, you may as well try giving customers the wrong drink once or twice, as this can lead to unique and sometimes hilarious interactions, especially with the resident wandering merchant, Nana.

Of course, your first instinct when receiving a new request would be to make it correctly, but there can also be joy in failure. Listening to each customer’s reactions at you delivering the wrong drink can be fun, too!

Fruits To Trinkets

Trinkets are little collectible items that you can find around the clearing, and can be used to decorate the shop by placing them on shelves, tables, or straight on the ground. There are a number of ways to get trinkets, like sweeping piles of leaves, trimming weeds, or trading them with Nana.

But the best way, by far, to amass a collection of trinkets is to grow them yourself! By planting three Gift Shrooms around any Large Hybrid Plant, its fruit-bearing capabilities will be replaced with trinket-bearing ones, allowing you to grow your own trinkets.

Trinkets will disappear at the end of a chapter, so enjoy them while they last.

Gerald’s Timmy Pictures

Gerald showing Alta a picture of Timmy in Wanderstop.

Early in the first chapter, you will meet the wannabe-knight, Gerald, who is a bit obsessive when it comes to his son, Timothy. In fact, during your first meeting with him, you have the opportunity to go through every picture Gerald has of his son, but only if you keep asking for them.

There are quite a few interactions like this in the game. It’s up to you if you want to see them through, and the only downside is having to listen to Gerald gush about his son for more than necessary. But it’s details like this that flesh out the game and make these temporary encounters even more meaningful.

Plus, you can save pictures between chapter resets by placing them in the store’s picture frames, so you’ll always be able to remember the time Gerald woke up Timmy at 3 A.M. (if that’s the one you decided to take).

2

The Book Of Answers

Perhaps one of the most useful items in Wanderstop is the Book of Answers, which can be found in the library on the second floor of the shop. Reading this book will tell you exactly how to complete every request that you receive, making it easy to please each customer.

Of course, this can somewhat diminish the experience of trial and error as you test out different fruit combinations for each request, but it’s definitely good to keep in mind for more complicated orders.

An interesting detail to note is that during chapter three, the Book of Answers will also have its pages scribbled out.

Playing With Pluffins

Pluffins are the mysterious penguin-like animals that inhabit the clearing along with Alta and Boro. For the most part, Pluffins will keep to themselves, playing with each other near their pen, flying through the air, or dancing around when you walk near.

However, sometimes Pluffins will steal seeds or parcels that are left lying around. To get them back, you’ll need to pick up the pilfering Pluffin until it drops its item. Don’t worry, they can handle it.

You can also give Pluffins different drinks to change the color of their fur. The color the Pluffin transforms into depends on the color of the drink, so you can try a variety of different combinations to get the perfect shade for your winged friends.
