Hello Kitty is among the most recognizable mascots on the planet. You put the Sanrio character and her supporting cast on some merch, and that merch is going to sell. Even more so if that merch is created by a similarly reputable brand, hence why the sneakers in Hello Kitty’s new Puma crossover probably aren’t going to be around for long.
Even though Hello Kitty celebrated her 50th anniversary last year, and side character Kuromi turns 20 this year, Sanrio’s new Puma collection doesn’t appear to have been created to mark either of those milestones. It’s simply a chance for Puma to get some Hello Kitty sneakers out into the world, the post announcing the range revealing that the designs for the new sneakers have been heavily influenced by ’90s culture.

There are a lot of sneaker designs available in the new collection, however, only two of them are available in adult sizes – the Red Bow Suede and Easy Rider Goth sneakers. The Red Bow design is mostly red with Hello Kitty bows embroidered throughout. The inside of the sneakers are white with a repeating Hello Kitty and Friends pattern. They’re already sold out at Puma but are still in stock for $95 at Sanrio.

More Than Just Sneakers, But The Sneakers Are The Best Part
The Easy Rider Goth sneakers are slightly more expensive at $100 and have a lot more going on. They’re also still in stock at both Puma and Sanrio. While mostly black, the laces and the interior of their design are the same shade of red as Hello Kitty’s bow. Silvery patterns are all over the shoes with the Puma logo in gold on the side.
This collection has been dubbed Hello Kitty and Friends, and I hear what you’re asking – where are the friends? Sorry, grown ups, they’ve been saved for the kids, at least when it comes to the sneakers. Among the many other designs, all of which have been made exclusively in sizes for younger fans of Sanrio’s characters, are sneakers dedicated to Kuromi and My Melody, the co-stars of an all new stop motion series coming to Netflix this summer, by the way, in case you didn’t know.
Puma x Hello Kitty And Friends Sneakers
Sanrio has teamed up with Puma to create a unique collection featuring Hello Kitty and her friends. The only two pairs of Sneakers in the collection available in adult sizes are the Easy Rider Goths and Red Bow Suede, each of them featuring Hello Kitty while the friends part of the collection has been saved for the child-size sneakers and other clothing in the collection.
Puma’s Hello Kitty collection is about more than just sneakers. If none of the shoe designs tickle your fancy, or you’re not ready to drop the better part of $100 on Hello Kitty merch, there are also hoodies, caps, t-shirts, and more available at Sanrio right now, all created in collaboration with Puma, and all sporting at least one of the three characters mentioned above.
