One Piece: Oda Hints At Yamato’s New Pirate Crew

Yamato’s cover story hints at her new pirate crew. Yamato will be a huge support for Luffy in One Piece’s Final Saga.

Of course just because they’re both very strong doesn’t mean that they’re equal in strength at all. In fact, Oda has already clearly shown in his story that one group is stronger than the others, and that there certainly do exist a few differences between the two. As One Piece dives deeper into the Final Saga, Oda will explore this idea even further, but for now, he’s already proven it for all to see quite clearly.

The Yonko And The Admirals — The Strongest Fighters

One Piece: The New Bounties Of The Yonko After Elbaf, Explained
  • The Yonko Are The Strongest Pirates
  • The Admirals Are Among The Strongest Marines

The Yonko and the Admirals will always be at the center of debates among the fans and that will never change. Even when an Admiral is defeated by a Yonko, fans will still continue to argue, such is the nature of One Piece. It is also quite easy to see why this debate is so popular. After all, both of these groups hold tremendous strength up their sleeve.

The Yonko are the four most powerful pirates on the seas! Red Hair is one of them — Garp

The Yonko are the four most powerful pirates of the world in the Great Pirate Era. These pirates hold tremendous strength up their sleeve, such that none can openly challenge them without the risk of utter annihilation. The Yonko rule the New World, the strongest sea in the One Piece world, like absolute kings and their authority cannot be challenged even by the Navy. They rule over several territories, and have thousands of ally crews in the New World. Many pirates seek alliances with the Yonko, and they also defend a lot of territories in exchange for money, or other forms of payment in some cases.

However, some just protect territories without anything in return, as seen in how Whitebeard jumped to the defense of Fishman Island long ago because of Neptune, and how Shanks protects Elbaf and many other territories in the New World without anything in return. Undoubtedly, the Yonko crews themselves are massively powerful. Even lower-ranking members of the crew are incredibly strong, and the highest-ranking commanders can hold their own even against the likes of Yonko and Admirals. The Yonko themselves are, in most cases, the strongest of the crew.

The Admirals, on the other hand, are the powerhouses of the Marines. They are quite easily among the strongest and their strength is tremendous, such as that they can fight the Yonko with confidence and hold their own. The strength of the Admirals is considered to be so high that a Celestial Dragon always feels safe in their presence. The Admirals have a certain degree of autonomy, but at the end of the day, they’re the lapdogs of the Government and always at the beck and call of the Celestial Dragons. With immensely powerful Devil Fruits, the Marine Admirals are definitely on a completely different level.

How Oda Has Shown The Difference Between The Yonko And Admirals

The Yonko Are Stronger Than The Admirals

At this point in the story, Oda has already pitted the Yonko and the Admirals against each other on many occasions, and the result has been clear on every single occasion as a Yonko win. Starting with Marineford, fans saw Admiral Akainu fighting an old and dying Whitebeard. This Whitebeard couldn’t even use Conqueror’s Haki, and he most certainly had bad Observation Haki. His health held him back greatly, yet, Akainu couldn’t defeat him.

In fact, despite Akainu delivering very deadly blows due to the opening that Whitebeard’s illness and the early stab wound that Squard delivered created, he still couldn’t beat Whitebeard and eventually fell due to Whitebeard’s two blows, laying low until Whitebeard died.

You guys are not going anywhere. — Luffy to Kizaru and Saturn

Around the Wano Country arc, Shanks presented himself as a threat to Greenbull, who panicked at the mere sight of his Haki. Greenbull clearly showed inferiority to Shanks. At the same time, Greenbull also openly admitted that he would never even think twice about coming to Wano if Kaido was still alive, proving that he was deterred by the mere existence of the Yonko.

In Egghead, fans saw Luffy fight against Kizaru, and even though Luffy was already tired after fighting against Lucci, and then the Seraphim, he still easily knocked down Kizaru. It must also be noted that Luffy was severely nerfed by having to cross the Frontier Dome twice, which fried his whole body on two different occasions. Furthermore, Oda had to keep Luffy from using Conqueror’s Haki until he delivered White Star Gun, which eventually paralyzed Kizaru, even though he could then move again before Luffy.

One Piece: Oda Introduces Dark Nika In The Story

Oda just showcased a dark Nika in One Piece. His role will be major in the future.

At the same time, in Egghead, former Admiral Kuzan fought an old Garp way past his prime, yet he couldn’t do anything without the assistance of the Blackbeard Pirates. When Blackbeard praised Kuzan for beating Garp, he clearly stated that it would’ve been impossible without the help from the crew. As things stand, it is quite clear in the story that the Admirals, although strong, are not on the same level as the Yonko. Their strength is immense, but not great enough to take down the Yonko ever.

Both Admirals and the Yonko have powerful Haki, but so far, no Admiral has shown Supreme King Haki, which is yet another plus point in favor of the Yonko.

The Fleet Admiral Is Yonko Level

The Fleet Admiral Should Be Stronger

While the Admirals themselves are likely not strong enough to beat a Yonko, a Fleet Admiral should be more even in power. This is clear from the fact that Sengoku is considered to be a legend of the old era like Garp, and Roger himself said that Sengoku would be a fun challenge for him. Even though he was an Admiral back then, Sengoku was always bound for the top, since he also has Supreme King Haki, like Garp.

Sengoku One Piece

Similarly, Akainu after the timeskip should be much stronger than the other Admirals and in the same league as the Yonko. Fans shouldn’t be surprised to see him be a user of Supreme King Haki either. His Cross Guild bounty is also 5 billion berries and he’s definitely on par with the Yonko, especially given that he must rival Luffy at some point. The other Admirals, however, are not as strong, even though they still pose a threat.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1143, is set to be March 23, 2025.
