Over the years, the Monster Hunter series has introduced some iconic monsters. The Rathalos is arguably the poster child of the series, but monsters like Anjanath, Zinogre, and Nargacuga deserve recognition. In a 2023 poll run by Capcom, Zinogre was actually voted as the most popular monster in series history, closely followed by Nergigante and Lagiacrus, the latter of which is rumored to return.

One monster that is strangely absent from the poll but is no less popular or iconic is the Bazelgeuse, which is currently inconspicuously missing from Monster Hunter Wilds. The monster is so beloved, in fact, if you can call it that, that players are desperate for it to rear its ugly head in the latest game.
Monster Hunter Wilds Players Really Want The Bazelgeuse To Return
A new thread on the Monster Hunter subreddit begging for Capcom to “make us suffer” has garnered some serious traction, gaining over 1,000 upvotes and more than 300 comments in under 24 hours, with players urging the developers to bring back the fearsome Bazelgeuse.
First introduced in Monster Hunter World, the Bazelgeuse is a natural-born hunter, stalking players wherever they may be on the map. Complete with its own terrifying theme song and brutal carpet bomb attack, the creature has become the subject of plenty of memes and has earned its rightful place in Monster Hunter folklore, and it’s no wonder players want it back.
Discussions have been rampant in the Monster Hunter community surrounding the creature’s omission. In the thread, one player said, “Bazel is my favourite monster. I was so upset to hear that he wasn’t brought back. It feels so dead just.. Actually doing a hunt and not having this glorious invasive a**hole just divebomb your hunt and demand your attention.”
Players are relishing the Bazelgeuse’s potential return so much, they’re even devising ways for Capcom to introduce it. “Make it a stealth update. No notes, no announcements, you just hear the music start playing in the middle of a hunt,” one player suggested.

While the thread is focused on the Bazelgeuse, there was a range of comments asking for Capcom to skip the Flying Wyvern in favor of another of the game’s invasive species. Of those available, both the Plesioth and the terrifying Deviljho were extremely popular choices.
It feels like an invasive monster is inevitable, but only time will tell which one it is.
