Good news for fans of The Walking Dead: Jeffrey Dean Morgan is starring in a crime thriller, and it’s coming out soon. Variety reported that Morgan’s movie Neighborhood Watch has been bought by RLJE Films and will be in theaters on April 25, 2025.
Mark Ward, the RLJE Films chief acquisitions officer, said:
“‘Neighborhood Watch’ sees Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid build on each other’s talents to unravel a suspenseful and surprising mystery, and Duncan Skiles has crafted a smart character-driven thriller that keeps you guessing. We can’t wait for viewers to unravel this unpredictable journey.”

Neighborhood Watch stars Morgan and Jack Quaid, known for playing Richie Kirsch in Scream (2022), as Ed and Simon, two neighbors who are brought together when Simon thinks he saw someone get kidnapped. Since Ed is a former security guard, he appears to be the right person to help Simon crack the case. Neighborhood Watch stands out from other crime movies telling stories about heists since it’s about the dynamic between these two characters.
Morgan’s movie resume includes the 2018 sci-fi monster movie Rampage, the 2022 horror movie Bloody Axe Wound, the 2022 drama The Integrity of Joseph Chambers, and the 2014 comedy They Came Together. Although many of these movies are entertaining and enjoyable, fans like watching Morgan portray serious characters like The Walking Dead‘s Negan Smith who experiences some dark moments. Neighborhood Watch has a serious plotline as Simon’s character has mental health struggles. It will also be interesting to learn more about Morgan’s character Ed, especially since Morgan is a strong and talented actor who dives deeply into his characters and ensures that they’re a meaningful part of every story.
Neighborhood Watch is the second movie Morgan has been part of that also stars a Scream actor. Morgan’s 2022 survival horror movie, Fall, also features Mason Gooding, who plays Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream (2022), Scream 6, and Scream 7.
As mentioned by Variety, Neighborhood Watch’s original title was Nowhere Men. Like The Walking Dead, Neighborhood Watch has a memorable title that also has a deeper meaning. Although Morgan and Quaid’s characters Ed and Simon might be trying to figure out if someone evil is in their neighborhood, it also sounds like as they become friendlier, they look out for each other.
According to his IMDb page, Morgan has several cool upcoming projects. He will star in several episodes of The Boys season 5, which will premiere in 2026 and which started production in November 2024. The actor will also in the movie The Postcard Killer. While fans wait to see Quaid and Morgan in Neighborhood Watch, they can see Negan again in the spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City, which can be streamed on Netflix.
