Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet looks like one of those games where we’re going to have no idea what’s going on until the end. We already know that the game will focus on a fictional religion, but what’s up with the sword with audio wavelengths? And what is this mysterious planet we find ourselves upon?

A gradual evolution, more than a complete reinvention.
It seems like we’re going to be lost until the game comes out, but director Neil Druckmann wants us to feel lost even after the game launches. Speaking in Sony’s Creator to Creator series, Druckmann explained that he wants players to feel more lost and isolated than they did in The Last of Us Series.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Will Feel More Lonely Than TLOU
While there are companions in The Last of Us series, Druckmann explained to fellow creator, 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland, that he wants players to feel completely lost, isolated, and confused in Intergalactic. You play a bounty hunter that tracks her target to the planet of Sempiria, where a new religion was born and all outside communication abruptly ceased.
“I really wanted to make a game about faith and religion,” Druckmann says (thanks GamesRadar), “but also about just being lonely. So many of the previous games we’ve done – there’s always, like, an ally, with you. I really want you to be lost in a place where you’re really confused about what happened here.”
He continued, saying players will be wondering, “Who are the people here? What was their history? And, in order to get off this planet – no one has been heard from [on] this planet for 600 years – so if you ever hoped to have a chance to get off, you have to figure out what happened here.”
Exploring a planet that has cut off from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years will undoubtedly make you feel lonely and confused, especially since Ellie isn’t around to chat with.
