The easiest way to describe how to get Frenzy Shard

drops in Monster Hunter Wilds is by simply slaying Frenzied Monsters.

However, you need to have beaten the story of Monster Hunter Wilds for them to appear. Mainly because you need to be completing High-Rank missions, which unlock after Chapter 4 and by beating the Lurking in the Shadows missions, which introduce Frenzied Monsters and walk you through how to deal with them.

After you’ve completed the aforementioned quest, Frenzied Monsters will appear at a higher rate.

To begin your search for Frenzy Shards, start by making your way to the Iceshard Cliffs. Frenzied Monsters that can drop these shards have a higher chance of showing up in this area.

Before fighting these creatures, you must prepare accordingly. Unlike the normal monsters, the Frenzied variants are more deadly and harder to take down.

The Frenzy virus doesn’t only impact monsters, but Hunters too. Make sure you stock up on Nulberry

as they delay and stop the disease from striking you down.

While fighting, aim to wound the monster. By doing that, the output of Frenzy Shards should increase.

If you’re having a hard time finding Frenzied Monsters, take on the Aberrant Atrocity optional quest given out by Alma at the base camp. The objective would be to kill a Frenzied Monster.

Unlike the shards, getting a Frenzy Crystal

is a focused search – there seems to be only one way of obtaining these resources.

Frenzy Crystals will pop up in the same spot when you specifically fight Gore Magala in the Iceshard Cliffs during the main story quest called Shrouded in Black. You’ll get to this point in the second part of Chapter 5.

When you beat Gore Magala during your first encounter, it unlocks the optional quest Misty Depths, which allows you to farm for the Frenzy Crystals.

Just head back to Alma and repeat the fight.

To extract the crystals, the same rules apply. You have to fight the Elder Dragon and target any wounds that open.

If you battle the Gore Magala, you can also get Frenzy Shards on top of the crystals. Once you’re at that point, you can cut your work in half by only going up against the dragon rather than taking on other Frenzied Monsters.
