Victory will shower you in medallions, which you can then deposit in the Tower to raise your class’ score and earn some exclusive rewards. Get your hands on a strong Trace Rifle, Heavy GL, and more by participating in this year’s Guardian Games event. Let’s dive into how this event works, how to get medals, and give a brief overview of this event’s reward pool.
What Is Guardian Games?
The Guardian Games is an in-game event that runs from March 11 to April 1. During this event, every class will be competing against one another for high scores in Guardian Games activities. The more medals your class earns, the higher you’ll place. The class with the most medals earned by the end of this year’s Guardian Games will be declared the winner. A podium in the Tower will remain for the rest of the year, commending that class’ accomplishment.
In practical terms, Guardian Games adds a PvE boss rush game mode and a variant of PvP’s Supremacy playlist. Guardians will earn medallions throughout the event by completing activities while wearing a Guardian Games class item. You can deposit these medals in the Tower for exclusive rewards, including Guardian Games weapons
and mementos
. This event is also a great source of upgrade materials if you’re running low.
Best In Class Quest Walkthrough
When you first log in, you’ll be tasked with speaking to Eva Levante in the Tower. She is your main contact for all temporary events in Destiny 2, Guardian Games included. She’ll give you the “Best in Class” quest to kickstart your Guardian Games journey. Equip the class item she gives you to earn medallions, which is this event’s unique currency.
Contender Cards And Medals
Once you grab your class item, Eva’s shop will become open for business. She has a wide range of bounties and short-term quests called Contender Cards for purchase. Contender Cards require you to complete an objective within the card’s specified playlist. For example, a Strike Contender Card would ask you to complete an objective in Vanguard Ops, say, clear three Strikes.
Contender Cards are your main source of high-tier medals in Guardian Games. Tougher Contender Cards give higher-quality medals.
Completing a Contender Card will give you a medallion, a currency that can be redeemed at the podium behind Eva Levante in the Tower. The more medallions you deposit, the more rewards you’ll earn. There are five types of medals: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Bronze and Silver are typically earned by playing activities, while Gold and above are from Contender Cards. Diamond Medals may only be earned once a week per category.
You can check your current medals through the Medallion Case in your Quests tab. You may hold up to five of each medal at a time. Once you’re full, be sure to swing by the Tower to claim your rewards. These medals also contribute to your class’ rank in the event. If you want your class to win, dunk as many medals as possible.
Contender Card Types
You may only hold one Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Contender Card at a time.
Diamond Contender Cards may only be completed twice per week.

Rushdown Playlist
New to this year’s Guardian Games event is Rushdown, a PvE boss rush activity that’s similar to last year’s Pantheon event. Your squad will need to eliminate five bosses in the allotted time. The faster you clear the activity, the more points you’ll earn. Encounters range from campaign bosses like Savathun to seasonal bosses from previous years.
Certain bosses will have a rally flag you can use to restock ammo and ability energy. You won’t get these for every fight, so ammo conservation is somewhat required if you want to achieve a high score. All bosses also display health bars in this activity to make DPS tracking a little easier.
Rushdown is broken up into three playlists:
- Practice: No modifiers and a forgiving time limit. This is a good place to test builds or farm low-tier medals.
- Rushdown: The main playlist. Includes combat modifiers and banes.
- Expert Rushdown: Features more aggressive scaling than the standard playlist. Modifiers are the same as normal.
If you don’t like PvE or want a break from Rushdown, there’s also a Supremacy Guardian Games playlist that runs throughout the event. You can farm that to earn medals and complete event challenges.
Guardian Games 2025 Event Challenges
All seasonal events in Destiny 2 come with a host of time-sensitive challenges, otherwise known as event challenges. There are 16 up for grabs in this year’s Guardian Games event. Completing all of them will award the Champ title
Champ title
and some event-specific rewards.
You can view your event challenge progress at any time through your Quests tab.
