Summary
- Daredevil: Born Again has drawn 7.5 million viewers on Disney+, but lags behind MCU competitors.
- Netflix’s Daredevil was a standout success, surpassing other shows in viewership.
- No official numbers released, but Daredevil’s success on Disney+ could depend on surpassing past milestones.
Daredevil: Born Again has been making waves since its March 4th release on Disney+. The House of Mouse has released viewing figures for the first five days of the show’s debut, and while things are looking initially optimistic for The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, it’s lagging behind some of Marvel’s other recent releases.
Daredevil was, by far, the most popular and successful superhero in Netflix’s line-up of The Defenders, the MCU’s smaller streaming cousin to The Avengers. Netflix released viewing figures way back in 2015 that showed Daredevil to be ahead of the pack of some of its competitors. During its debut, an approximate 10.7% of Netflix subscribers watched at least one episode in its first week and a half. This put it above the award-winning third season of House of Cards, which only managed to attract 6.5% of the site’s subscribers in its first month.

Daredevil: Born Again tells a superhero story at the street level in a way that the MCU has largely ignored.
Daredevil: Born Again has premiered to a relatively strong launch. Variety reports that the hit series has drawn 7.5 million viewers to Disney+ this week. This makes the horned hero’s resurrection the biggest streaming bump Disney has seen so far on the platform in 2025.
Disney doesn’t always divulge its viewing figures; streaming services aren’t required to publish this information. So, most of the time, it’s difficult to gauge or compare the success of its shows. However, its flagship programs usually get a press release depending on their popularity with audiences and critics.
It appears that Daredevil: Born Again is currently lagging behind its superhero competitors. Agatha All Along, the MCU’s follow-up to Agatha Harkness’ (Kathryn Hahn) story after WandaVision, topped 9.3 million views during its first seven days in 2024. Whilst Disney has succeeded in transferring Daredevil’s Netflix viewership over to its own platform, it’s uncertain whether the series will achieve the same notoriety as the MCU’s tentpole films. These streaming shows have been thrust into the spotlight recently as Disney’s poor box-office returns continue to mount up with flops like The Marvels and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Critics are eager to examine the success or failure of programs like Daredevil: Born Again.
The placement of Netflix’s The Defenders within the MCU timeline was also a long-running topic of discussion. It had previously left the smaller streaming universe slightly disconnected from the wider film franchise. In 2024, The Defenders’ saga was officially incorporated into Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to the delight of the street-level heroes’ fans
There’s still time for Daredevil: Born Again to surpass its predecessors and make a huge splash. It all depends on the show gaining momentum from here on in. The return of Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), and favorites like Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/Punisher) has certainly got Marvel fans buzzing again.
Daredevil: Born Again is now available to stream on Disney+.
