Monster Hunter Wilds has delivered some of the most beautiful and breathtaking vistas that the series has ever known. Second only to the level of detail they put into the food you can cook. Players will have numerous locations to explore and admire.

In fact, the best way to enjoy moving around the game is for a player to pull up their map, mark the location they want to go, get on their mount, and auto-travel. This will allow them to sit back and take in the vibrant and almost living worlds around their characters.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How To Get Giant Beak

Giant Beak is a very specific item in Monster Hunter Wilds that only drops from one monster.

Windward Plains

This is the initial starting location for the game. It is where players will face off against their first monster, come to know some of the core NPCs at camp, and gain access to the Training Area.

Notable Monsters Encounters:

  • Chatacabra
  • Quematrice
  • Balahara
  • Doshaguma
  • Rey Dau

Players will encounter these initial monsters during the first three chapters of the game. Afterward, players will transition to High Rank where everything will change. Monsters roaming the fields are now worth more than they once were, and there will be new monsters not present during Low Rank — such as Gypceros and Rathian.

Scarlet Forest

Monster Hunter Wilds Scarlet Forest

Players will travel to the Scarlet Forest once they have learned most of the game’s basics from the Windward Plains. This area will be very lush and have plenty of Endemic Life to capture. Players will also be able to pick up all of the game’s fishing side quests from Kanya. Players will also learn about capturing monsters using traps and tranquilizers once they have reached chapter 4.

Notable Monster Encounters:

  • Lala Barina
  • Congalala
  • Uth Duna
  • Yian Kut-Ku

While entering the Training Area by foot is only accessible through the Windward Plains, players are also able to fast travel to this location by using the world map — regardless of the region they are currently in.

Oilwell Basin

Monster Hunter Wilds Oilwell Basin

Oilwell Basin is a fire-focused location where players will get a lot of use from Water Elemental weapons. Players will also want to craft whichever armor offers them the best Fire Resistance before taking on the next story-linked monster. This means having a full Ajarakan set before facing off against Nu Udra.

Notable Monster Encounters:

  • Rompopolo
  • Ajarakan
  • Nu Udra

Here’s a quick guide showing how to deliver Wyvern Eggs in Monster Hunter Wilds without breaking them (or getting attacked).

Iceshard Cliffs

Monster Hunter Wilds Iceshard cliffs

Just like how the Oilwell Basin caused players to respond to heat, this location has them dealing with extreme colds. Luckily, they will find a pepper bush when they start. Harvesting this resource will give them a Hot Drink to fend off the cold. Players should always be snatching up any peppers they pass to stay stocked up. There are also meals players can eat to help them perform at peak condition in extreme environments.

Notable Monster Encounters:

  • Hirabami
  • Nerscylla
  • Jin Dahaad

As players progress through the story of the game, they will find locations called Suja and Wounded Hollow. Both of these locations will have their own dedicated fast travel option from the World Map, despite not being their own regions.

Ruins of Wyveria

Monster Hunter Wilds Ruins of Wyveria

Players will face off against monsters that pose more of a challenge than anything previously encountered in the game once they arrive in the Ruins of Wyveria. This includes many of the game’s Guardian monsters. This location seemingly marks the beginning of the end and will feel like it’s the final part of the game. However, there are more chapters ahead.

Notable Monsters Encounters:

  • Guardian Doshaguma
  • Guardian Rathalos
  • Guardian Ebody Odogaron
  • Guardian Arkveld
  • Zoh Shia
